Hi, what does Bowland ensuite in the halls actually look like? I know it's been refurbished but I can't find new pictures.

Hi there,

Thank you for your question!

Bowland college offers bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms which are located in Bowland Hall and Bowland Tower.

You can check out this link for more information and pictures of the accommodation we offer https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/accommodation/undergraduate/bedrooms-with-ensuite-bathrooms/

Hope this helps

Hi, Can anyone help me with specific info about rooms, types, colleges and buildings, I am trying to figure out what there is and compile a list (am I missing somewhere it is available online, because I can't find it!)!
Also, adding the number sharing a kitchen. If you know the number sharing a bathroom feel free to add that too...
I may be missing whole buildings and have things wrong!

Hi will try and help best I can from what I know. You will also have students in your flat doing mixed courses, so you wont have a flat full of medics for example. Daughter was in a Grizedale townhouse of 12, and although there was not another doing physics, she did have a natural sciences, biochemist, languages, medicine, economics, business just to name a few I remember. Townhouses do not have a cleaner, so its responsibility of the students to clean up. They did have a rota, however the decorations stayed up all year, so when it was time to pack up in the summer, there was still the christmas tree, and a giant furry spider from halloween on the ceiling from Halloween lol.

County:
Main - Superior Standard (8-13)
Field - TownHouses (12) Each floor has 4 bedrooms, sharing 2 bathrooms, and theres additional toilet on the ground floor next to the kitchen
John Creed - EnSuite (i think it maybe 4-6?) the kitchen is older in the pics and doesnt look like it could hold more than that
South - EnSuite 8

Pendle:
?? South Campus - Standard (8 for definite, we saw this on open day,and they share 2 bathrooms)
?? South West Campus - EnSuite I think this is 6-8 . There used to be a you tuber called charlotte who stayed here and her channel i cant find any more, but im pretty sure its 6-8 people

Bowland:Main - Standard Stayed here with the eldest in the summer last year as she had accommodation whilst she worked at primark in the city. There was 2 corridors of 8 rooms. Each set of 8 had its own kitchen, and the two corridors met at the corner by bathrooms and there was 8 bathrooms shared by the 16 rooms.
South - Standard (??)
East - ??Ash - Superior Standard im pretty certain we looked as this and its 12-15.
Bowland Halls - EnSuite (4)
Tower - EnSuite (5)
Slaidburn House - 16 rooms sharing 2 kitchens on each floor (there are 4 floors)

Fylde:Main - EnSuite (8)
George Fox - EnSuite (10)

Furness:Main - Superior Standard? (7-11)
Perimeter Blocks - Standard? (4-6)
EnSuite (8)

Grizedale:
Alexandra Park - Studios (1 or 2)
EnSuite (5-6 this is 5-6)
TownHouses (12) Each floor has 4 bedrooms, sharing 2 bathrooms, and theres additional toilet on the ground floor next to the kitchen
Standard? (8 this is 8)

Lonsdale:
?? - EnSuite

Cartmel:
?? - EnSuite Mostly 8 rooms per flat, some have fewer.
Hello, will flats be divided on gender? Or would it be co-ed in all the flats?

Hi
@zcapp

I’ve complied information from the university accommodation websites and from the colleges individual accommodation websites.

For shared bathrooms it’s generally 4-8 students sharing. Most ensuite bedrooms are arranged in clusters of eight people.

https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/accommodation/undergraduate/bedrooms-with-shared-bathrooms/#how-many-people-share-each-flathouse-552736-1

https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/county/accommodation/

County
Townhouse 12 students
County main with lounge area. 8-13 students
John creed. Bowland Hall and County's John Creed Building see groups of 3-4 students sharing flats in the smaller houses. Six people share the flats with the bigger beds.
County south 8 students

https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/furness/accommodation/#how-many-people-share-each-flat-416210-0
Furness
Furness Perimeter shared 4-6 students
ensuite 8 students
Furness Main 7-11 students

Pendle
En-suite. Most en-suite flats on campus are shared by 8 students. So although I don’t the exact number for this college it’s a good guide.
Shared 5-8

Grizedale
En-suite 5-6
Townhouse 12
Shared 8

Lonsdale
En-suite. Most en-suite flats on campus are shared by 8 students. So although I don’t the exact number for this college it’s a good guide.

Bowland
Tower 5
Main, south and east 5-18
Ash 12-13
Hall. Bowland Hall and County's John Creed Building see groups of 3-4 students sharing flats in the smaller houses. Six people share the flats with the bigger beds.
Bowland's Slaidburn House has two kitchens on each floor, with eight students allocated to each one.

Fylde
Main 8
George fox 10

Cartmel
En-suite mostly 8, some have fewer

Hope that helps!

Hi Anon,

The flats are generally mixed gender unless you ask or agree to a single gender flat.

Thanks

Hi Anon,

You can see some pictures of the rooms here on the websites for shared and en-suite rooms. There are also videos available

https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/accommodation/undergraduate/bedrooms-with-shared-bathrooms/

https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/accommodation/undergraduate/bedrooms-with-ensuite-bathrooms/

You can also find some additional photos on the college websites. Here’s county’s for example. https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/county/accommodation/

I stayed in furness en-suite and found the accommodation to be pretty decent and modern. I’d recommend having a look in person at the accommodation at an open day or an offer holder day if you can make the travel to Lancaster.

I hope that helps!

They are still working through the accommodation applications and I have heard of lots that still don't have yet. You can always call the accommodation office if you aren't sure. Follow LU accommodation on Instagram, they give quite regular updates!

Hi @Joeh2006

Accommodation offers are still being sent out over the next few weeks, so please do not worry if you haven't heard from the accommodation team as yet as allocations are still being made.

Hope that helps!

Hey,

Welcome to Lancaster, you will love it here! (I hope 😉)
If you are looking to connect with other students from Bowland, you can join the Bowland Freshers' WhatsApp groupchat: 🏹Bowland College🏹 | Instagram, Facebook, TikTok | Linktree
Perhaps you can meet some nice people from Bowland Halls there.
(And if not - don't worry, you will very quickly make friends during the Welcome Week, since everyone will be in the same boat and there will be so many exciting experiences to facilitate connecting with people!)

Polina,
Lancaster University Student Ambassador.
