How easy is showering in shared bathrooms?

I'm assuming that most people stay in a room with a washbasin and mirror and have to share a shower. however I have a few questions.

*How many people do you have to share with?

*Is the shower room generally an oversized toilet cubicle, if you get my meaning? Or is it a separate room, like a bath/shower combo?

*What are the cues, waiting times like?

*When's the best time to go?

*Do you have to get up especially early in the morning if you want a shower in the morning?

*Do you go there in a bath robe, or fully clothed and get undressed there?

Thats all folks

When I was in hall about 8 (3 showers, all male, not the showers before you ask!)

Bath? You'll be bloody lucky!

*What are the cues, waiting times like?

Queues, darling. Hint read answer to next question.

*When's the best time to go?

Before everyone else (clean showers).

*Do you have to get up especially early in the morning if you want a shower in the morning?

Nope, just get up at normal time for a normal person, this is considered early for students.

*Do you go there in a bath robe, or fully clothed and get undressed there?

Bathrobe and slippers are essential for student life

Thats all folks

*How many people do you have to share with? We have 4 showers between 12 people. 1 at one end of the corridoor and 3 at the other.

*Is the shower room generally an oversized toilet cubicle, if you get my meaning? Or is it a separate room, like a bath/shower combo? A large cubicle with a shower, then the shower curtain, then another bit that you step out into.

*What are the cues, waiting times like? There's never a queue. At most I sometimes (though only maybe three times all year) have had to go to the other end of the corridoor as I'm at the end with just one shower.

*When's the best time to go? Whenever you smell enough to need a wash

*Do you have to get up especially early in the morning if you want a shower in the morning? Nope.

*Do you go there in a bath robe, or fully clothed and get undressed there? In my towel then get dry and dressed in my room.

*Tip* You can get little plastic basket things in woolies, that are dead handy for carrying shampoo/conditioner/showergel/face wash from your room to the shower room in, washbags tend to get a bit damp after a while.

Flip flops are a good idea as well, especially when the showers are due for a clean and you don't particularly want to put your feet on the floor!
When you say you have to share showers, is it between different sexes and is it one big shower room like you get at the swimming baths?

Oh communal ones. We just all get naked and get on with it. There's very little touching and you get bored of looking after awhile.

In one of the open days, the bathrooms are similar to the ones at home. That means you need to wait in line for your turn.
I've lived in both halls and a house (both uni accommodation - and I'm a 1st year)

*How many people do you have to share with?
Halls - 2 baths and shower between 12
House - 2 bathrooms (a shower in one and bath in other) between 6

*Is the shower room generally an oversized toilet cubicle, if you get my meaning? Or is it a separate room, like a bath/shower combo?
Halls - 3 cubicles in a room
House - normal bathroom

*What are the queues, waiting times like?
Most people are lazy and won't wake up for ages, so if you get up early no one will be around.

*When's the best time to go?
Early, plus no one will see you walk back to your room in a towel.

*Do you have to get up especially early in the morning if you want a shower in the morning?
Not necessarily, people don't take that long anyway.

*Do you go there in a bath robe, or fully clothed and get undressed there?
Bathrobe essential.

We share 2 showers and a bath between 13 people. It is a seperate room. Amazingly i have never had to que. The best time to go is when u wake up. Some go in a bath robe and some get changed in their. When i visit a friends halls we occasionally paly a prank. The locks to the shower/toilet rooms can be opened from the outside with a coin. This is what we do and wait for someone to open lol

Must be too much watching of the Masters.

Ok, the reason I ask is because I went to medlink last year. The first night I stayed in Lincoln Hall, it seemed there was about 5 or 6 people between a bathroom on the ground floor. The accomodation left something to be desired and the bathrooms seemed a bit dirty, and out dated.

Anyway, the nights thereafter I was in Derby Hall. The bathrooms were much better, one room with bath shower combo and one in a toilet/sink room which was like the extended cubicles. However, unless I missed other bathrooms it seem that bathroom belonged to everyone on that floor... 40+ people. It was matlock house block of derby hall if anyone from nottingham can shed some light...

Cheers.

*How many people do you have to share with?
Not sure. I share my nearest bathroom with two others, but there's no shower. The shower is famed for it's greatness and possibly up to 15-20 people use it. It gets cleaned every day though.

*Is the shower room generally an oversized toilet cubicle, if you get my meaning? Or is it a separate room, like a bath/shower combo?
It's a cupboard with a large shower and a small space to dry/get changed.

*What are the cues, waiting times like?
I have to wait very rarely, if I do I go to another shower down another flight of stairs (it's not that far though). Depends who's in it. Some people are tres inconsiderate.

*When's the best time to go?
Middle of the night? 8am is good - earlier than other 9am lectures people, later than workaholics. Lunchtime is also good. Evening (7-8pm) seems to be empty as well.

*Do you have to get up especially early in the morning if you want a shower in the morning?
Yes, but only cos I have to dry my hair.

*Do you go there in a bath robe, or fully clothed and get undressed there?
Haha I wander round in a towel  . I gave up caring a long time ago.

*How many people do you have to share with? well there's 8 people in the flat but u only share a shower with with 3 of them

*Is the shower room generally an oversized toilet cubicle, if you get my meaning? Or is it a separate room, like a bath/shower combo?
shower over bath for the girls, shower with changing bit for guys.

*What are the cues, waiting times like?
never had to wait

*When's the best time to go?
whenever you want a shower

*Do you have to get up especially early in the morning if you want a shower in the morning? no

*Do you go there in a bath robe, or fully clothed and get undressed there? depends. there's room to get changed in there though

No they're not, all the halls at my uni had shared sex bathrooms. A bunch of 18 years olds sharing a bathroom, doesn't mean it'll turn into a mass orgy

*How many people do you have to share with?
it depends how many housemeantes you have. usual for me was 3 or 4.

*Is the shower room generally an oversized toilet cubicle, if you get my meaning? Or is it a separate room, like a bath/shower combo?
it's just a normal bathroom

*What are the cues, waiting times like?
everyone gets up at such different times, it's free most of the time.

*When's the best time to go?
when everyone else is asleep, or at uni

*Do you have to get up especially early in the morning if you want a shower in the morning?
nope. people only take about 10mins each, and you won't all be up at the same time

*Do you go there in a bath robe, or fully clothed and get undressed there?
I really don't remember, no different from home anyway

Is this really a major issue for you? It's not something I ever gave any thought to.

I only share with one other person and I still find myself late for lectures because we both go for it at exactly the same time.

*What are the cues, waiting times like? no waiting time, except you might have to wait ten mins on a night out

*When's the best time to go? any time when the waters hot

*Do you have to get up especially early in the morning if you want a shower in the morning? no

*Do you go there in a bath robe, or fully clothed and get undressed there?
dressing gown and flip flops, or towel and flip flops

This year 5 people to one bathroom (house) is another story though, have to wait for shower and then when you get one its cold (grumble, grumble)
