Turning A Guy Down

I met this guy in a club on saturday night and was chatting to him for ages, and accidentally gave him my number (I meant to give him a fake one but forgot!!) I was really hoping he wouldn't get in touch but he has and now I don't know how to get rid of him. He text me yesterday and again today and I haven't replied, he was a nice enough guy but I'm just not interested in him (he's really not my type) but I feel really nasty telling him no. Any hints?

Um, probably not a good idea telling him you've a boy/girl friend, that's pretty mean. You'd be pretty hurt if someone led you on like that, then told you they were already in a relationship, wouldn't you?

Try telling him you like another person, and at the moment you're not interested in someone else (slightly less harsh than already being in a relationship) or you've got exams to study for and don't need the distractions that a boyfriend brings. You could always bring up the 'hope we can stay friends' line, and then pray that he doesn't take you up on it....

Why not just hook up with him?

Reply 5

tell him you dont mind meeting up for a date but that you had to send your face mask in for maintenance so he should expect to see a minger

tell him that you're just really busy with uni stuff at the moment (tbh he probably will see through it as a poor excuse but mleh)

Unfortunately I made a complete mess of the whole thing on saturday and told him I was single (I didn't expect him to ask for my number)

I can't tell him I live too far away either since we oth live in the same town, I can't really lie to him either coz I'm very likely to bump into him again!! Which kind of rules out the 'I'll call you' as well

I don't really want to meet up with him because I don't want to give him the wrong impression when I'm really not interested.

Hmmm, so many decisions!!

Tell him you've got loads of work on at the moment. Or just say you've been seeing a guy on and off for a while and that things are progressing...?!

That has possibilities.

He's coming across as quite desperate now as well, which is a HUGE turn off

Just dont tell him anything and ignore him, if you havent already spoken/text him back from that number he might just think its a wrong number and get bored of texting you.

I'm seriously considering that approach, but I feel really mean!! I'm far too nice for my own good!!!

You could always just tell him the truth! What's the probability of you seeing him again? Or just ignore him and then if you randomly see him again just tell him you gave him the wrong number? OR (and this is my favourite)...get one of your guy mates to ring him and say "why are you texting my phone? think you've got the wrong number"....

Yeah, that's what I'd do. It's harsh but it works!

That is the greatest idea I ever heard!! Just need to find a willing volenteer now, unfortunately most of my male friends some very camp, even the ones that aren't gay!!

That deserves rep and I'll try really hard to remember to give you some tomorrow!!

As has already been said, just ignore the messages and hell think hes got the wrong number or whatever..
