Back on topic: The more I read about this girl's case, the more I realise that she is not a victim of an anti-Islam school rule. She is a victim of the actions of the extreme wing of her own religion. After 11/9, Muslims were not the most popular group in Britain. This is a fact, even though it should not have been the case. This girl seems to have turned in on herself in the face of this, and turned to a more extreme style of Islam than her parents (this surprised me. Of course, it's possible, but it's usually the other way around). Almost overnight, her friends noticed the change from a 'normal' girl to a hyper-religious one. The robe is no better, with regard to Al-Qur'an itself, than anything else that covers the whole body - long sleeves, long trousers and a headscarf would serve just as well. It's a cultural thing, like a kilt for a Scot, rather than a religious one.

How sad that Muslim extremists should make life so hard for their fellow believers. Although said extremists would probably view this case as a victory.

Yes but not many scottish folk to the best of my knowlage... wander around in thier kilts....

JUst to add my oppinion, because i feel like it:

a uniform : Always the same, as in character or degree; unvarying.
Conforming to one principle, standard, or rule; consistent.
Being the same as or consonant with another or others.
Unvaried in texture, color, or design.

in otherwords one rule applies for all, in my school there is a rule against jewlery and there was an uproar where crosses were concerned, but it was ruled that dispite thier links to religious symbolism they are still jewlery and therefore should not be worn. I feel it is a shame that the girl wants to isolate herself and differ from the uniform policy, in many peoples veiw shes surely making a bad situation worse by demanding exceptions for her.

So i was not joking, what good have human rights done?
They have allowed idiots like you to voice your opinion, however unreasonable it may be for the rest of us. So don't shoot yourself in the foot.
