Regents College - EBS London / RBS London /

Hello everyone.
I am a year 12 student, doing A-levels in Scotland. I have made a lot of research on Regents collage. Particularly European Business School. As it is a private institution, so it is not included in any rankings and its really hard to find anything on it.

What I have found
Pros:
Regents park, apparently one of the best campuses you can find.
98% get jobs in 6 month after graduation.
Oldest private BS, has to mean something.

Cons: Price. Its high, but its London, I would not expect to have something cheap in the very centre of London.

What bugs me: I've heard a lot of different opinions about it, from "A lot of LSE postgrad. are from EBS." and "I loved it!" to "Spoiled brats" and "Stupid rich kids". Also the requirements are very low, is it because its a bad uni? or because there is lack of demand? or do they consider personalities? :s-smilie: :s-smilie: :s-smilie:
A lot of people that did research on it advise to keep away from it, but every one who was there so far say its really nice. Loads of arguments about rich people going there. I don't find it a bad thing at all. After all, one of the main things that a uni can give is connections. And in business connections with people in position of power/money are valuable. One said that it is a really nice schools and the other one said that they have a bad drug usage reputation.

So my question is:
If you are/were a student in Regents collage, please tell me about it. Or if you are close friends with a person that has been/is there. Please tell all you know about it and explain your point. I really hope to get some clear answers!

Contact them and ask for a tour, they'll probably be only too willing to accept and be able to answer a lot of your questions. I appreciate Gordonstoun to London is a bit of a trek, but I think it would certainly be worth it.

Oh, and just as a matter of instruction, you're misspelling 'College'

Thanks for the advice. I will definatly do that. But as any uni they will probobly tell me that they are very good and respected and so on. But I would really like to know what students really think and the real quality of it.

Hey

I have been reading this forum for some time but never cared to register.
I have read a little about EBS now and I though, as a student in that school, I'd give an inside view.

So the first thing, will sound silly but most of what you heard is true to some extend.

-Yes studying in one of the Royal park is incredible, even though finding a flat closeby is... expensive to say the least.
-Yes many of the people there are very rich, and you can find quite a few spoilled idiots, but you will also meet a lot of great people from everywhere around the world.
-Also having so many people from rich family you do make great contacts, and that doesn't prevent to make great friends either.
-Only problem is that if you are not as rich as them... it's hard to follow them when they go out, or travel. But it's not that big of a deal.
-The requierments are low compared to some other, but from talking to people a lot of them had pretty good grades, many with IBs like I did for example.
-About drugs... well yes, they are around and quite present. But it's limited to some groups in the school and you can have no contacts with them at all if you don't want to.

As for more good points, well I need to make some publicity don't I,
-The year abroad is quite an amazing experience (I personally spent a year in China and loved it).
-We have good teachers, we have some bad one like everywhere, but overall I really enjoyed my classes. And being such a small university you can get to them much more easily.

Hum... I am not sure what else I could say really but if you have any more questions you can just ask them or pm me and I'll be glad to answer.

I hoped this helped at least a bit!

Thanks for the info!
A couple of questions:
- Do/did you do undergrad or masters? If undergrad, where did you do masters?
- Those who do their undergrad at EBS, have they been accepted for Msc in top notch schools? (LSE, Ivy League, HEC, ESCP-Europe)
question.......is the extremely high prices worth it?

Well the reputation of RBS/EBS is not that good, its known as a party school or rich kids school. Richest kids from all over the world are there. You don't need good grades to get into rbs. One thing is you make amazing contacts for networking. EBS is slightly better though. If you getting into warrick/lse/kings/city, go for them.

I have received an offert for MSC Finance and Banking from Regent's University business school; and I have to respond next week.
Compare to Durham University or Kingston University business School, what will be your advice for studying my Master
Thank you in advance

I'm transfering from EBSL to another Business school because the program is too simplistic and yes, it's filled with spoiled brats and rich kids!!! If you got better than Regent's, go somewhere else! Great campus though!!!
