I don't think Jeans are really suitable for smart casual. They're certainly not for men, I think women are different though, sorry :dontknow:
Sounds good to me, the only thing I personally would change is the shoes, but thats just because my feet get cold quickly! Good luck! xx

Edit: Of course jeans are suitable for smart casual, aslong as they aren't tatty old ones. To me, smart casual (even for men) would be smart shoes, jeans and a smart top/shirt.

If I wear black trousers it looks like I'm going for a interview.

This also is true. Maybe it's ok for girls to wear jeans with smart casual. I dunno. Could always try something with a skirt :colondollar:

:ditto:

i was planning on wearing jeans to all my applicant days
Jeans are fine for smart casual - so long as it's worn with a smart top, sensible shoes and you generally look neat and tidy. I usually wear dark jeans, a shirt and a cardigan with my flat dark boots and I fit in pretty well. The first time I went to one of these things I wore black trousers and looked really smart compared to everyone else. I think it's only really the medics who're expected to really dress up.

Juat wear jeans. I've been on open days and even interviews where guys are wearing jeans with a smart top. That's much better then looking like your going to a wedding or funeral after.

... Smart casual =! Funeral. Everyone looks the same at a funeral.
I got an invite to the bham applicant day, was like stuff you! I have the offer, there is no way i'm driving all the way to bham to see all the thing's i saw at the open day.
I wore jeans to my Cambridge interview and it didn't seem to do me any harm. Go in what you want to as long as you're not making a concious effort to look scruffy.

i went to one open day/interview and wore smartish grey trousers, i didnt feel too dressed up but there were still alot of people wearing more casual things, so to the next one i just wore a smarter pair of jeans and it was fine.
i think if there smart jeans, like no rips/tears etc then they will be ok and teamed with a smart top etc

I'd say anything really, providing it's 'respectable'.

A quick question, and possibly a silly one at that: everyone who's been invited to a Visit Day, are you all going on your own, or are you going with a family member/friend?

I took my Mum with me, but that was because i couldnt get there otherwise etc. I know some people that have gone with friends, mostly because they are going to look at the same universities/courses, but i think its up to the individual really.
I'm going with my dad. Same reason, I would be able to find my way around the cities without him. He's got a very good sense of direction... unlike me.
Pretty sure i'll be going on my own, and pretty sure i'll be wearing jeans. black jeans mind, i have fallen out of love with blue jeans.

You can't go wrong with shell suits.
