I really really want a tattoo have done for ages want a black outline of a star on my hip. But:
a) Have to hide it from parents till I go to Uni this year.
b) Have 2 travel to get one as no-where nice here.
c)Love swimming in summer.

Any advice??!!

Just wear non-revealing clothes around your parents. Wear a swimming costume, not a bikini when swimming. Go on a day-trip with some friends, under the pretence of shopping or something. It should be easy enough to hide - I was so excited that I showed my parents straight away, but they didn't mind (my dad had just got his first one as well, so I would have told him off had he told me off)

I say don't do it. But then I hate tattoos. If you're really sure, then draw one yourself and wear that for a while to see if you change your mind.
you might as well be honest with your parents from the start, they will find out anyway eventually and it saves alot of hazzle

you really should wait. or do like that other guy said and draw one on every day and see if you still like it. all i will say to you is while you are young now it prob will look good and sexy in low trousers and bikinis etc but wait till your a bit older, out on a bit of weight when you have a baby etc and your hips get bigger as they will do when you have a baby and your tattoo starts to look awful and even after you have a baby your skin doesnt fall back to how it was before and your star is kinda saggy instead of sexy. also a star isnt really the kind of thing you are gonna want on your hip when your 45 and are on holiday with your kids and your husband. im not saying dont get one at all, just think about it really really well!

I'm just imagining all these old grannies with butterflies on their spine at the swimming pool in about 50 years time. It's going to be amusing.

A) It'll be on your hip so it can be kept well hidden
b) Go to a reputable place, no dingy back street places
c) Swimming constume

I wanted a tattoo since I was 3 when my mother had hers done, (I used to colour it in with felt tips  )
So on my 16th Birthday I had one as my presant and I don't regret it so far I may when i am older but at the moment I love it. TBH I sometimes forget which shoulder it's on

It's hard to give advice on things like Tattoos though because It's personal preference and You have to live with it. But I hope this helped slightly

aww come on guys I've booked it now. It shouldn't stretch as its over the bone plus its not a typical star I've designed it myself, stars have a personal thing with me. And for all you sexist lads out there just coz I'm a gal dont mean I'm definitly gonna have kids!
Eak! I'm scared now :-(

tatoo aside, I think that is possibly one of the most silly things I've ever heard
"And for all you sexist lads out there just coz I'm a gal dont mean I'm definitly gonna have kids"
Do you realise the percentage of women who have kids at some stage in their life..?

No the tatoo won't hurt that much if its an unshaded star, tho if you have it on your flank a bit then it will. Also tatoos done over bone hurt like hell.
alot of my friends have them in one form or another.
I say if you are gonna get a written one, have it done in german or spanish, not chinese. English is boring, chinese is pretentious.

Err yeah but how do u know that I a) can have kids or b)want kids statistics aren't everything. Despite from being very arragont u dont seem to be considering anything about the individual.

GO-GO power rangers!!
I say good luck! I've got a star on my lower back that my friend designed and bought for me, for my 18th birthday. It's lovely.
I've got another tattoo over my ankle bone, which hurt a bit, but was entirely bearable pain. You'll be fine, and if it's just the outline it wont take long either. I'm not worried too much about how they'll look when I'm older; they're small and subtle and in places that hopefully I wont be flashing around when I've gone all saggy. Of course you should bear in mind that they're permanent, but that's what I like so much about them.

I've got 3 very discreet tatts and one is in latin. I think you should have a temp one for the summer and see how you get on and even let your parents see it, you'll be able to get an idea then of what they might say when you go for the real thing. Just don't get what everyone else already has.

In all honesty mine didn't hurt that much at all, I had special numbing cream when I was in the tattooist, although not all tattoo places do that, you can get the numbing cream from the chemist (Can't remember the name of it though) It's like the stuff you get in hospital when they put a drip in your hand.
