I've only just found out about this! What are the implications of this?
I was planning on joining all sorts of musical societies and groups, and even taking a music module as part of my law llb! Not to mention the prospect of mixing with lots of musical people doing musical courses... *sigh* Just when you think you're all set something else comes along...

From what I read about this, they're stopping music as a degree, although the "making of music" will continue, whatever this means
I doubt that the societies you can join related to musical ability will stop just because music as a degree is no longer available.
I know for sure that folk soc will be continuing anyway as I know the President to be
Not so sure about all the bands etc. although I should imagine that a fair proportion of the students within such groups aren't actually taking a music degree so they will find some way to continue.
The Musical Societies will all still be here, they're run mainly by Drama students anyway....and they're getting more money due to the closures. I think they're going to put in some "director of Music" as well, to ensure were all still singing and dancing. Apart from that i dont really know.....
