The best way to get rid of ingrowing hairs on your chin would be to pull them out with your bare hands!!

i got them before, really bad, huge lumps very painful and even pussy!! i never could have thought it was ingrown hairs but went to the doctor twice and they assured me it was..she said using dry sea salt to exfoliate!! havent tried it though...but thats what the dr said helps prevent it!

:toofunny: i dont even think you know what you just did there.

Don't shave your fanny, it looks horrible and the pain is not worth it.
Wax or trim with scissors if you cant afford it.

Use Veet. Or Wax. Epilating is incredibly painful :frown: Shaving is stupid thing to do, you get many more ingrown hairs than other methods.

I believe this link will better inform you of my intentions.

This site is far too tame for me to procure "all that crap" :p:

If they are getting inflamed - it is possible that the follicles are getting infected - you should see your doctor and get some Fusidic Acid Cream or something.

So long as a girl told me it was ingrown hairs and not an infection then I would understand and wouldn't care about it

Thanks, it's good to know I'm not alone, from speaking to mates (only close ones obviously) about it it seems to be a really common problem so I'm surprised we never hear more about how to stop them, its a nightmare!

I did try veet once and it got rid of the hair alright, but the red marks are still there. I know it might be a case of just waiting for them to fade but I've been waiting about six months and only noticed a very small difference. Do you think that cream for scars would make them go away?

I used to always wax my legs then one day i shaved and suddenly ingrown hairs and the hairs grew in differnt dirrections. It took ages for my hair to grow back soo annoying. But I understand where your comming from. How are the hairs growing or are all ingrown

Reply 31

It's a common problem, I find it easiest to just use veet.

And whatever you do, don't epilate. Oh God, the pain. And the ingrown hairs... *shudder*

Is this true? I really wanted to buy one..

Yeah, I got mine off eBay because I wasn't willing to try it for £44 and then find it was crap.

It hurts. Really really hurts. Especially in more sensitive areas. And I get some awful ingrown hairs. Plus, there's the fact that it doesn't always get all the hairs, so you have to shave the last bits off :frown:

Anon please, this is embarrassing!

Bascially I've always been one for liking my "bits" to be nice and tidy. I got waxed every month for a couple of years but then found myself a bit short of money and decided to just switch to shaving. Since then I've been getting the WORST ingrown hairs, like little red bumps that sometimes get inflamed. I even went for an STD check to make sure it wasn't anything else but the nurse just told me it was ingrown hairs and I should tweezer them out, let my hair grow and exfoliate regularly.

I've been following her advice but they still aren't going away and some of them seem to be leaving small dark red scars. It's really embarrassing. I'm scared boys will think I have some kind of disease and I hate not being able to shave.

Anyone else get this/know how in the world to get rid of them?

And boys: if a girl told you that's what it was would you believe her or would you run a mile thinking she was absolutely ridden?

ew sick, see a GP dont ask a student chat room

You are completely not alone! I have them too. I've had ones really bad that the hair follicle gets blocked and causes a large lump behind it from the build up of stuff behind it. I don't know how to get rid of them either. Someone recommended dabbing TCP on them to stop the inflammation but I haven't tried it.

Why on earth would you want to see that?

Reply 37

Seriously, epilate or wax. If you shave you're only asking for that problem!

You're not on your own there! As far as I know it's hard to get rid of them but it has helped me to exfoliate beforehand and use plenty of shaving gel!! Never ever ever use an epilator (made that mistake and hurts as hell + a lot of ingrown hairs eurghh) but if you get the chance do switch back to waxing as it is 10000000000x better than shaving!!!! :yep:

So basically exfoliating after epilating = no ingrown hairs and nice skin, yes/no
