[h="1"]I'm new to a job at h&m as a sales advisor in birmingham, england. they have trained me sooo badly, the manager just rushed through the till training and the tills are sooo confusing to my previous one at river island...i can do basic serving but im unable to do refunds/exchanges/discounts etc..can anyone help :frown: working tomorrow and there so unfriendly there arghhh

I know the feeling. I was given a poor till training a few days ago and as soon as it ended they shoved me in the main tills with huge cues. Refunds and exchanges are easy. Just remember to click the 'Return' button for every item and scan the receipt. What don't you understand? I'm a bit confused with discounts too.

edit: I just realized this was 4 days ago. I hope you got the hold of it

Keep on applying. I sent the exact same application form around different stores in London and I applied at the Oxford Circus branch quite a few times even though i got a rejection email. At the interview, I've been told that they select candidates with no criteria. They just randomly pick names for interviews. So, keep on applying!

I've seen you ask this in a few H&M threads so thought I'd reply.

First off start writing about what role you are applying for and why you want to work for H&M.

Write about relevant experience relating to the job description. For example, times where you have worked with other people, given excellent customer, had good time management skills, used your initiative, and of course gained the skills needed for the job (experience of working with customers, on tills, in the fitting room, handling cash)

Try to fit everything onto one page.

You basically have to sell yourself to H&M, show them how much you want to work there and why you are the perfect candidate for the job. Look at examples of generic covering letters online and make it more personal.

I completely agree. Sell yourself but don't over do it. Be realistic. 3-4 short paragraphs is enough. Questions like 'give me an example when you have worked with other people or what is excellent customer to you' are usually asked in interviews too so keep that in mind when writing your cover letter.

First paragraph: A small introduction. I am writing to you because I believe my experience and abilities in the areas of Fashion should be of interest to you and your company for the position of _____

Second and Third paragraph: Previous job experience. Tell them what you did, what role you had, why all this will be of help to H&M and everything the above poster said.

Fourth: Academic achievements, GCSE'S, Degree etc

If you get called for an interview, research the company. Mention their past (and future) collaborations with designers and show them that you have a passion for fashion, and remember... always smile. Don't be fake though. Let it be natural.

Good luck
