I believe in letting the market be as free as possible but surely some intervention in the form of regulation is good in order to ensure that people's personal and property rights are respected?

No causes more problems than it solves but a command economy aint that good either. Need right b alance but its so hard to find without causing some sort of problem.

You quite rightly summed up the role of government. To protect individual rights and protect its citizens from force and fraud. Thats my opinion anyway. I am looking for somebody that disagrees with me and has a decent argument against free market capitalism.

Well, what do you mean by intervention? If we're talking about stopping fraud or theft, then fine, but that's not usually what people are referring when they talk about regulation in an economic context.
