Yeah, but whose going to be cooler in 10 years time? someone with no qualifications who's either on the dole or working in kwik save (no offence to anyone who works there) or someone who has a decent degree, a good job and a nice car?

well if it is cool to be live on the dole when you are older, get married 10 times and just get rejected by society, then fine you have it... there is no excuse for a bit of old fashioned hard work even if a workman does not necessarily have the right tools for the job....

some easy-come-easy-go guy who makes happy living in a whole load of careers or some stuck up, over-stressed snob who looks down on people, wears a suit and boasts about his degree?

You're being a bit harsh; some people leave school with little or no qualifications yet try to live rewarding and fulfilling lives nonetheless. Academia is not the be all and end all.

better than living on a council estate, having bad kids and telling coppers to leave their little Johnny alone whilst also being dossers, they vote Labour yet can not be arsed to contribute anything to the state...hmmm socialism in all its glory...cough

in the modern world, unless you are an exception like Branson, then qualifications sadly count for a lot more than they did before... my argument is that there is no excuse for dossing and generally thinking you are being 'ard

Yes a generalisation but, sadly a reality in a lot of cases...however, this by no means applies to hardworking people...as I said, in the current economic climate, there should be little excuse for not having a job

Oh, perish the thought Blamps, but some people just aren't *intelligent* enough to take any formal qualifications, and yet they might still work hard in whatever vocation they choose to follow (and it certainly doesn't resign them to being 'rejects of society'). Your stereotyping is just out of order.

Yeah, okay qualifications are not necessarily everything but, just dismissing school in an attempt to be cool is pitiful...and I personally believe they should bring back proper aprenticeships and masterships...what is wrong in labelling a dosser i.e some who choses not to work because it's cool as a reject in society..a few years back, it was a very shameful thing not to have a job even under macroeconmic hardship...of course factors such as structural unemployment and economic depression in localities is an excuse among other factors but, laziness is not
