Navel Piercing

I had mine pierced last august, and it was fine, then last week it got red and sore, but i left the bar in anyway. Then i was at the gym and i lost the bar, by the time i got a new one (the next day) it had completely closed up and healed over!I must have some freaky skin! What should i do, will i have t get it repierced even though the inside is probably still open?
Thanks, x

i'd go to a different piercers and get it checked. Have you looked after it properly?

My ears used to close up all the time if I had a bath or something. That happened for about 2 years so I'd say it's quite normal! I used to be able to just push the earrings through quite easily...but I really wouldn't recommend it with your navel. Makes me feel ill just thinking about it. Go back to where you had it done, or get an opinion from somewhere else?
I asked somewhere else, and they said i may have 2 get it repierced bcause it looks close, but they also said it was incredibly quick for it to close up so maybe i could push it through
They also said it may be because it was pierced with surgical steel instead of titanium

You should wait a bit before getting it repierced. I took mine out in October and only just had it redone. You can get it done a bit earlier than that, but you need to wait about 6 weeks or so.
Yeh i will wait till it's completely healed, although i miss it, it looks so.....bare lol x

Well, think of it as a learning experience. You know to look after it better now!

And you could try taking zinc supplements and rubbing vitamin E cream onto the skin where the piercing was (when it's totally healed over) to reduce scarring
 Thankyou for the advice. It was always ok until it got caught on something and then it got red and horrible :frown: x

Ow. You could try pushing it back through. But I suggest waiting six months, leaving it to heal, then getting it repierced.

Nah, you don't have to wait that long. From October, I could definitely have had mine done at Christmas, and probably even earlier.

And pushing it back through is a bad idea.
I tried to push it through, and even tried it in the bath thinkin the skin would be softer, but both the top and bottom are COMPLETELY closed up, so repiercing it is. Maybe they'll do it properly this time, apparently not piercing with titanium is illegal in this country x
im sure mine was surgical steel cus he sed no1s allergic to it like titanium, cus its what they use in surgery or something? or maybe it was the other way round. anyways mines been fine ad it done 5 years now. tho the holes very tight at the moment lol, if i took it out it wud definatly close up quik.
Yeah that's wat i thought, but when i went to get advice i was told it should have been titanium :frown:

yeah some people have nickel allergies. my mum has that and all her jewellry has to be really expensive otherwise she comes up in a really horrible rash.

I'd suggest a more reputable piercer, for sure.

it may not be the piercers fault. if she caught it something then thats prob why it went all red. that happened with mine. and as for it closing up, body piercings tend to close up a lot quicker than ear piercings for some reason.

they're piercing with non reccommended surgical steel over titanium, they are at fault.

oh right, sorry didnt read the bit she posted about that, only what mangomaz said about it lol.
then yeah, go to a different piercers if they used surgical steel.

have you caught it on anything? that would probably be why if you have. my navel took ages to heal cos i was always catching it on stuff. if youre really worried go and see your piercer.

Don't touch it unless you've washed your hands and are cleaning it. Make sure you done anything that might put excess strain on it, and that the waistband of your trousers isn't rubbing on it.

Do salt soaks twice a day, and treat it as if it were new. Do not pick any scabs if they form. If you can see a red line between both holes, or if it is very red and sore then go and see your piercer. Go and see them if the bleeding continues too.

If you have a ring, consider getting it changed to a bar if it pushed to one side when you sit down.
