Wow, I would have to guess that the state of the economy and housing sector would guarantee plenty of available housing around London, but I'm not a real estate professional, so I could be wrong.

no, i think that all together, although it is the most expensive, that its the better option. If i find private accommodation it comes to the same price AND i still have to share facilties and wont be as close to Strand campus as I am at Liberty House. And these other student accommodations offered in the city are WAAAAYYYY more expensive (like Woburn place with UNITE is about 300 pounds per week, and liberty is 215 or something).

I had REALLY REALLY REALLY (yes really- lol) wanted to go to Lillian Penson...maybe i'll swap... who knonws...lol

You might be able to find a house share with some other King's students which could be as little as £100-£150 a week.

Thanks Simon for your help:smile: the price isnt an issue per se, I was actually quite keen to go there when I read the accommodation brochure, but after reading all the posts on here about liberty house, thats when i got worried :frown:

but i think i'm going to go for it. ima a graduate student and think having my own little 'pod' will be beneficial. it seems the REAL problem has appeared to be the price; i guess no place can be perfect...

hey guys, how are people finding out about accommodation?

is it being emailed or are you having letters to the door? Or do you have to phone the office?

I'm a UK applicant from Wales.. can someone shine any light on this?

Reply 385

i'm an australian exchange student and i got notified about 3 weeks ago by email.

i faxed in my confirmation - when i called great dover street (for another matter), they told me that following confirmation, 'acceptance packs'/contracts/whatever will be sent out in september, to coincide with uk students' final exams or something.

so i haven't received the contract or further info, but i HAVE been notified about where i got allocated... via email.

Thanks guys!

one quick question though results day is going to be mega busy, both for students and the staff.. if you find out you've missed your grades, you get on the phone to admissions and if they decide to accept you what do you do then regarding accommodation, do you ring that office or what?

I'm just so confused about it all :s-smilie:!

most likely you'll be siphoned through to the second set of ballots in september, where the chances of getting your first choice is practically zilch for accomm.

I'm holding a conditional offer and awaiting my results on thursday. I signed in and it had said my account has been deactivated. This is really frightening me ... maybe i didnt make the grades so they cancelled my account. Has anyone else's account been deactivated??? Im going crazy:eek3:

try checking your status update! I think the server might be down at the moment though and it might be why your account says deactiviated. But yes anyway you are best using the 'what is the status of my application' link, rather than the online application as it tells you your offer on there etc. xx

Reply 391

Ps. It won't let me access my application either, so defo wudnt worry, it's just server that is down! Good luck for results days! xx

:/ You're worrying me now haha, I'm getting the same thing, maybe they've just closed it now because they are sorting out the allocations for September

https://www.kcl.ac.uk/about/structure/admin/facser/accomm/enquiry/status-report.php is giving me a message about maintenance work so it may be the same thing with the accomodation system

Let's not get too worried over this lol :woo:

Reply 393

mine logged in and was fine. offer is unconditional though

Reply 394

I got that deactivated account thing once as well. I just worked again the next time I tried.

And at the moment their Status report page says they're doing maintenance work. So it seems like there's no need to worry.
