well if your studying history i assume your at the strand campus so stamford street would probably be the best option, but im stay there this year and i love it but its not really worth the money or you could go for brian creamer house which is cheaper and its pretty central to, you could still walk to the strand if you wanted to , if i had to pick again i think id go for that. the only thing is that you dont get an ensuite there but you do at stamford street

thanks

A prospective undergrad comp sci speaking. What would be the best option considering that I'm looking for a self-catered, close proximity to the comp sci building and a decent social opportunities.

Looking at the University of London rooms they really are tiny and cramped. I've decided that for the rest of the degree I'm going to move to my own flat, but it would nice to get to know people during first year so I will be staying in the halls for the first year.

Any suggestions?

Stamford Street because im pretty sure that computer science is at the strand campus and its just across the river from stamford street. Plus stamford street is self catered. As far as it being social it just depends who you live with =]

Yeah I think SS is closest to the strand. It's about a 10-15 min walk.. sociability depends on who you end up with in your flat really. Some are fairly quiet..

Me! Would prefer to get out of my house and live away from my annoying family but might not get in, don't have enough money to live in private accommodation really though :s-smilie:

What do you think you're going to do? I live in Surrey but it's still gonna be a hassle getting up to London every day, but then again I also don't know if it's worth living there as if not I'll have less debt at the end of uni and also I'll be back home every weekend anyway seeing my boyfriend so maybe the cost wouldn't be worth it? Aaah dont know :frown:

Probably going to ask some random people if they feel like sharing a place. I mean, there's no point in going to live in liberty accommodation when you don't get your money's worth. No point in getting a room in intercollegiate halls when it ends up being more pricey than renting out an apartment.
So yeah, probably get a flat to rent? I live in Feltham, not far from Surrey, I think.
And yeah, I guess this is what we get for applying to a uni bang in central London. Yay for student debt, huh.
This is so stupid. Does King's not consider how hard it is for people living within the M25. They make it sound like we live a 5 minute walk away from the university >__<

I think if I was going to rent I would still have to get it out of london cos otherwise i would not be able to afford it in central london. Have to be somewhere like Balham, then aagain that would defeat the purpose of moving out of my house cos it would still be a half an hour train journey to london. But my local train station doesnt have direct trains to Victoria so its gonna take me a while to get into uni. very inconvenient. They totally think we have it easy :frown:

Its Stamford Street, i can see the courtyard from my window which i guess is quite nice, some people have a view of a wall. Plus the rooms looking onto the courtyard are alot quieter because you cant hear the noise from the main road. Its like £144 a week so it is quite expensive

Hi guys,
Can someone help me out because I'm really confused...?
Okay so I'm studying Classics at the Strand and want Halls that are sociable, self catered and reasonably near.
1. Stamford has great location but is it unsociable?
2. Again is GDSA antisocial due to the security ascpect?
3. Is Wolfson House full of medics/dentists/Sciencey subjects or are there some humanities people there?
4. I've heard Hampstead is very social but realistically how long would it take to get to Strand Campus and on night's out is there a bus service to get back to the halls?
4. Is Brian Creamer unsociable because it's quite small?
5. Lastly, any thoughts in intercollegaite Halls? I know they're catered but at the open day the accomodation woman said you need to list all 14 halls in order, both king's residences and Intercollegiate so I need to decide on them as well.
Would really appreciate any help because I'm from up North and don't really know about travelling times from one part of London to another part/have only been to London a few times etc.
Thanks! xxx

Not heard great things about Stamford or Great Dover (in comparison to places such as Wolfson and KCH at least) but then it's as social as you make it. One of the reasons is because you don't live with as many people as other places. Wolfson House security is friendly and relaxed.

I would say Wolfson House, at least when I was there, was 50% Guy's campus (medics etc) and 50% Strand/Waterloo (other subjects)
