For me:

Quiet environment, preferably around others who are also silently studying as it encourages me. The library is the best place. To prevent daydreaming, think about failure as a result of daydreaming. You could also try to break up revision such as different modules/topics throughout the day so it doesn't get boring, and designated breaks to refresh your mind. Also, try different revision techniques.

As for the hours of A's question, well, that's all dependant on you and your ability. Only you or your teachers know the answer to this. Ultimately, the more productive hours you put in, the higher your chances of an A.

Eat healthily and well. I can not emphasise this enough.
Fast food and junk food make you sluggish. E numbers aren't good for kids concentration so I doubt it would be that great for ours either. Drink plenty of water.
Caffine can actually make you more tired. It's not really that great.

When studying, i find that 1 hour in the morning is worth about double 1 hour in the evening - Try to get as much done in the morning, and then have break for a while for lunch etc., and then either continue having a break, and study into the night later on, or go back to studying and then have the rest of the evening off...
And coffee helps too!
