Does anyone know what a deuterated compound is?

it's a compound where the hydrogen atoms are replaced by their deuterium isotopes

(D = H but with one neutron in the nucleus)

For example D2O instead of H2O

deuterated water instead of normal water

They are very useful in situations such as NMR where H atoms give signals but D (H isotopes ) do not...

e.g. hydrogen NMR may be carried out using deuterated chloroform CDCl3 as the solvent.

'cor it's hard to type with a few mojitos inside...

Yes ... just to add - they can also be interested to label protons in organic compounds to investigate mechanisms in organic chemistry
