I think they mean we are not associated with any companies or organisations - and therefore could be perceived to be less trustworthy than other forums owned by the BBC or some other company.

Where else would you recommend if you've seen more useful forums?

I can't I don't know any others. It's good if you want your spelling and grammar criticised I suppose and for people to humiliate people who haven't got all A's.

That doesn't happen from the decent members. I certainly don't have all A's, but people dont humiliate me much on here.

I've only seen people criticised for their spelling and grammer where the lack of them made a post either unreadable or incomprehensible.

As for being humiliated I haven't got all As - nothing like that. You can only feel humiliated by others if you give them your permission.

No they don't. You can't upload avatars, you can't post IMG (images) and yes the search works but if you try to look at page 2+ it will just keep displaying page 1. Try it.

Personal Avatars and [img] tags were disabled on this forum around 4 weeks ago due to pornographic images being tagged on a regular basis.

We expect to unlock this soon, when the board is ridded of regular spam attacks.

As for the search engine, this is not a fault of our own, but is a fault with VBulletin, and we await, patiently the upgraded version of the board so to get rid of this bug.

    ---

Paul C, there are ways to voice your opinions on this board constructively, rather than shout abuse, try posting these concerns in a pleasent way.

Okay sorry I got a bit carried away, but it doesn't deserve 4.5 out of 5.0 for these reasons alone really I don't think. When it's sorted out maybe then yes. And also when people are more helpful instead of flaming people who simply ask for help (eg, 'Third Class Degree from Oxford University?', 'I am a faylure' and loads more where people get flamed, fair enough the 'Faylure' person couldn't spell very well but there is no need to be mean to him and the 'Third Degree' person was only asking for advice but people flamed him). When it overcomes these shortfalls then I think it would probably be worthy of 4.5 out of 5.0 thats all i'm saying. It could be alot better.

Now thats better, and quite possibly is something we can do things about.

What we have had just recently is an increase in traffic and particularly an increase in spammers - most of which have been unregistereds who waste alot of peoples time - this leads to a lot of sceptisism (sp?), by other regular members.

Many people try and offer advise, but it is inevitable that someone will see the fact that they appear to be more intellegent than someone asking for advise as an opportunity to flame them - basically to show off.

Unfortunately this is no fault of the board as a whole, more just the smarmish attitudes of certain characters, and personally I think it deserves its rating of at least 4.0, and one the VBulletin changes have been enforced will more than warrent it's current rating.

On the whole though, when people ask for help, with questions, the community tries to give guidence and solutions - and when someone asks for advice regarding futures (UCAS, 6th Form Options, GCSE Options, Relationships) we try and offer opinions here too.

Sometimes when people disagree with other peoples opinions it gets a little heated, but then again without this ability to debate the forum would have less significance.
