Read the drop a jeans size thread. It does work from what I've heard.
You can lose that doing the Atkins for a week. You dont even have to follow it strctly. Cut out all wheat products, including pasta, rice, bread and potatoes. These food types give you that bloated feeling and cause water retention if eaten in large quantities. Doing this should give you the results you require.
half a stone in two weeks is healthy (considering is mainly water retention you loose in the first week - which explains the sudden load of weight loss)
try some toning exercises. To lose say 2 pounds a week you would have to eat about 1500 calories a day. I think 3-4 pounds a week is 1000 calories a day, i'm not sure.

Make sure that everything you eat is low-fat. Do that and eat a calorie-restricted diet in general (around 1000 calories per day) and you'll lose weight - it works for me! Plenty of fruit and veg.
wow....so many replies in about 2 mins! yeh, i was thinking calorie diet, but i dont want to be constantly counting calories..........so everything in proportion? or not? more of one food group in particular?
Eat lots of vegetables. The calories in (most of) them is almost negligible, so you can have loads on your plate without eating many calories. You can get one calorie oil in a can that you spray on - it's good to spray a bit on peppers and parsnips and squash and onions and cherry tomatoes etc, and roast them in the oven. Yummy, and good for you.
exercise... drink lots of water... don't eat *****.
Oh yeah, water! People confuse hunger and thirst easily apparantly, so drink loads of water and it'll fill your belly up. Plus, if you don't drink enough, you retain more water, making you bloated and heavier.
Try eating only low GI foods and do some exercise...http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/diet/gi_diet.htm

It only actually works to its full potential if you have a BMI of over 25 so you are overweight to start with...

Its really easy to lose a bit of weight without counting the calories if you do some exercise and make small changes like switching to pitta breads or something and having pasta not potatoes with your dinner, eat fruit and snack on veg and stuff!! And don't forget to have a small treat like a biscuit every once in a while!!!

Eat only healthy food, and swim every day.
People seem to forget about the importance and effectiveness of exercise! Eating less/more healthily is only half the solution

I think you'll find that many professional athletes eat loads and not all necessarily "good" stuff either.

Something else you might consider doing is exercising about an hour after each meal. Don't eat at night... feel free to eat plenty in the morning. I think other people have pretty much covered the other things
you are better off running, but its more important you do what you enjoy, thereby not skipping sessions... rather then finding excuses not to do something which you dont like.

Very true.

Exercise is more than half of it. I've never had a healthy diet, but it was never a problem because i exercised enough.
3 words=

RUN B**** RUN!

Dont bother eating less, ull just get hungry and have less energy therefore get tired/depresed/anoying.

Go running/biking/gym as much as possibly. (the more time u spend excersing the more weight u loose)

DIET MY HINEY! if you want to change something in ur diet, go with natural food from nature such as fruits, vegies, meats, basically cut out the junk food a little.

Id give you the run of ur life! id make u run until u were on the floor gasping for air! (my point) : Dont EVER make excuses and push ur self well above ur limite. U do this and the the pounds will be jumping off you like...ummm...something that jumps very fast, possibly out of a fire. umm... well u get the point. actually u prob dont  anyway.....

Thats about it!

This is right, dieting is one of the hardest things to do properly. Chances are that you'll regain any weight you've lost within a few weeks just from getting lax about it.

An hour a day spent working out is best as you burn calories (pretty much the same as not eating them) and tone at the same time. I eat whatever takes my fancy and drink myself stupid as a matter of course, however, by exercising a little each day I stay pretty much in shape. Bueno.
don't eat any less than 1200 calories a day or your metabolism will slow right down! then try to do an hours exercise every day, even if this is just walking into town (or shopping!) or dancing to a CD.
Restrict cravings by getting enough sleep, eating 5 portions of fruit + veg, and drinking 2 litres of water a day and overall you should be guarenteed weightloss the healthy way!!
