Going for my interview soon, specifically at Greenhead College, Huddersfield.

I know they'll probably ask the questions "Why do you want to study here?" "Why do you want to study this course?" "Tell us about yourself"

What other questions may arise? I want to be prepared in my answers so that I do not have to think on the spot.

What were you asked?

Sorry if it's in the wrong section, i'm a newbie.

Thanks, Alex.

They probably won't ask you too much, pretty much along the lines of what you already anticipate. At my interview I was asked about characteristics that would make me a good student, such as I had to demonstrate how I was hardworking, reliable, able to manage my time etc. Also I think they asked what my aspirations for the future were. Don't worry, it's only 6th Form, the questions won't be very challenging :]

I can't talk specifically about Greenhead College, but generally expect to be asked about your extra curricular interests [I guess that might come under tell us about yourself]. At all the 6th form interviews I went to I was asked- what book did you last read. Also as konnifer mentioned, what you hope to do when you finish school, from my experience some places just want to know if your thinking of university or not, others will ask you what you are interested in studying- have a look at the ucas website if your not sure yet. The college might ask you what activities you would be interested in participating in there.

For me it was...OMG! HOW BIG ARE YOUR MUSCLES?   Then I flexed them and they said...OKAY COME ON IN...   And I walked off proudly with a weird look on my face :eyeball: :shifty: When they Later told me it was because they were scared of me...:p:

It's nothing really... just general questions, they'll let almost anyone in if they have decent grades!

Dont worry

May I ask, seeing as you're doing an interview.. How come they're interviewing you?

At my college, they apparently interviewed some and not others. They didn't interview me. I didn't understand why.

im going for my greenhead interview on thursday. how was it ?
Just show a general interest and enthusiasm for your subjects is probably the only advice you'll need. My sixth form intiview started ok asking me if I still wanted to take the subjects I'd chosen. it then decended into begging me not to apply to the local grammar school rather than this state one because the teaching will be the same.
For mine, all that was asked was "Why do you want to go to this sixth form?" and then it was just a discussion about the subjects I wanted to do and what I wanted to do at uni/as a job. I was already at the school though, but 2bh I don't think the interviews for external people went into much more depth. Just have a vague idea of what to say for obvious questions like the ones you mentioned in your first post and you'll be fine

My friend's all got asked about subjects they were taking- eg. a friend who wanted to take Biology got asked about DNA, what it stands for, how it works, what its made of, etc.
So they're likely to asked about the content you learnt at GCSE to see how competent you are.
When I went to college they basically asked me why did I want to do the subjects I chose. And... that was it really.

I think they'll ask the generic questions. I think, beside a discussion about my predicted grades and potential career paths etc., they asked me why I wanted to come to the college. That was it.
I went into my interview and they said "oh, you're the girl who wants to do German and music A Levels? well you can't. there's a timetable clash."

I almost cried right in front of her :/

they didn't ask me ANY proper questions though!
i shall direct you here...

good luck!!
