i get that! i've been trying to stop for like 5 years! i've tried painting nail strengthener and the special varnishes you get (like the ones that taste nasty :p: ) but i just end up doing it all the more to strip my nails of it :frown:

they never worked for me, ive bitten my nails for as long as i can remember and have progressively got worse, my left thumb is now red raw becuase ive stripped it of skin
Yup, :frown: I have the same problem, I try to chew chewing gum, which helps. Also when I notice myself starting to bite my nails I try and make myself stop. It is sooo hard to break the habit and I still haven't stopped fully. I find I tend to bite my nails more when I am nervous or bored, don't worry I know how it feels!! Good Luck

I used to do it a lot, but i was on holiday once and just stopped for about 2 weeks. Went back to biting them. But i've now stopped - but still occassionally bite them. I think it's just will power. I hate when the bit of skin peels off and it gets pulled and becomes really sore and more skin comes off.

yes I haven't bitten my nails for 3 weeks but I'm trying so hard not to do it. I've been putting nail hardener on them.

I am going to bite them soon though I'm sure I just can't resist.

ive let mine grow once before but they were so weak and ended up breaking anyway, seems pointless growing them!

im not musically minded though, so it would be a pointless effort
Ooh, you can get these gloves in the body shop which are just cotton really, and you put hand cream on underneath the gloves to make your hands lovely. It'd help soften the skin around your nails maybe, and might help stop you biting them as much?

knowing me id chew holes in the gloves!!
I used to bite my nails (seriously, until a point when there was almost nothing left to bite...) what worked for me was I tried hard to completely ignore my nails, I didn't control myself or anything I just kinda forgotten they were there...
(I have been more stressed out sine I've stopped biting them, and according to my friends getting easily irritated so I'm not really sure stopping was a good idea - biting nails can be so relaxing...)

I'd never really noticed other people's nails before... as long as they were clean I didn't care at all - now I'm suddenly noticing things like whether or not their manicured, are they're all the same size, squared or rounded... (it's becoming an obsession to replace the nail biting - I now look at nails  )

it really is having strong will power. like every time u notice that youve started biting your nails, do something else like putting on some hand cream. and then also ur hands will be nice and soft that hopefully u wont feel the need to bite ur nails for a while.

thats wat i found helped with my lips; i didnt go to extremes with biting my lips but i wud annoy myself wen i did it, so i just put on a coat of vaseline wenever i cud tell i was about to start lip biting and it really helped cz i didnt want to disturb the coat of vaseline lol. of course now im slightly addicted to vaseline... but hey u win some u lose some
ooh i forgot to mention, i was told that you can't digest the nails easily so you'll probably get a build up in your stomach. not a nice thought! although it hasn't really helped me
