Passed test, but havnt driven since!-how to regain confidence?

I passed my test in the summer, and it's more than likely that I am not gonna get a car anytime soon, so a year could go past with me not even touching a steering wheel, I'm not worried that I've forgotten to drive...I'm just aware that when I took the test I was not confident at all, and not having driven for so long, I doubt I would be confident at all!

So do you guys think that when I'm ready to buy a car I should take more lessons, just to get me started again, or should I just see how things go with the car I get?

Have you done Pass Plus? If not, i would recommend you do that.

Personally wouldn't take lessons again or Pass Plus, just money wasted. Just go around places you are familiar with until you get back into the swing of things.

If you're really not that confident at all, ask a parent to sit in with you for the first couple of drives.

This basically.

It's like riding a bike, it all comes back to you once you get moving.
I'm feeling the same, I passed two months ago tomorrow  but haven't driven cos I have had to save for a car and probabley won't have one for another month and I'm getting worried about driving the car from the place I get it from cos that will be the first time I'd have driven since my test.

I found DirectLine (via their website) to be the cheapest. I checked all the main comparison sites and went direct etc, but directline was £500 cheaper than the cheapest I had found before (and they don't even accept pass plus )

They don't online apparently; they said the online discount is greater than the pass plus discount they give over the phone.
Whenever you do come round to buying your own vehicle, I suggest driving it around ALOT, possibly with a friend/relative, just so that you are not alone whilst taking the wheel for the first time. This will give you assurance and more confidence.

You can do it online and get the Pass Plus discount. I got 20% discount (£600 off). Apparently the discount has gone down to 5%, but the web site still says 20%, so if you mention that you could probably still get 20%.
get in the car.
turn on the engine.
go in first gear holding your clutch down with the handbrake off.
floor the accelerator as hard as you can, make it rev like crazy.
release the clutch very fast.
enjoy the ride
Sorry to hijack a thread but what's the best way to get the car back when I buy one? Me driving back on my own following my dad/mom in front in their car or me driving with my mom as a passenger.

Same here OP. Passed in November and won't be driving until late Feb at the earliest. My mate also went a few months without getting behind the wheel after passing as well and just went out on quiet roads with someone in the passenger seat, i think that's what I'll do. You'll be fine!

This is why I'm not learning to drive until after Uni, there's no way I'll be able to afford a car in the next few years so I'll save the money and learn then.
I am sure you will pick it up again quickly, just get the car go to a quiet spot (eg industrial estate on a sunday) and drive around a bit, then move onto roads you know well, confidence will quickly come back.

Does it matter??? As long as it is insured for you to drive, taxed and has an MOT then do what ever you want. If not then you will have to get it trailered to your house.
