LSE workload

The maximum amount of homework i have in a week is 2 sheets of maths problems which take an hour to complete each. Other than that i dont do any work outside school. I start working hard at school one month before the exams and start my revision 2 weeks before my first exam. To conclude, i am really lazy and the workoad at my school is so easy to handle.

Im not a workaholic, i spend most of my time going out and playing sports.

How does this compare to LSE? Will i be able to handle it do you think? I just want a rough idea of how much i will be doing!

Thanx

I am not in a position to answer first hand, but from my inquiries, you are going to get quite a shock. LSE is supposed to be very demanding, and 2 sheets of maths per week? Jesus you are getting off lightly.

another question. will classmates help each other out or do they prefer doing it alone? Is it a friendly atmosphere?

Interesting analogy! No doubt workload will vary for your course. i think for your course acc/fin it should start from an introductory level and build up. also for most courses there is greater emphasis on the 2nd and 3rd year esp when it comes to degree classification. you will prob have a shock but i think that you should be able to adapt to it since you will be in that kind of environment where everyone around you will be pushing hard. that may be more reassuring than other responses but you will have to work harder than you are now definitely.

i do even less than 2 hours a week..no joke. it might just be the subjects i take but there does seem to be a lack of homework etc. i just dont do any work outside school at all. i think i might be in for a shock if i get in

I do something like 3-4 hours a day.
I am not kidding (yes I do IB, and yes my exams are in like 6-7 weeks)

does anyone know what the international relations course's workload looks like? If anyone has any information on it I would be most appreciative. Thanks!

it really depends what you're aiming for and how quickly you learn & develop your own ideas beyond the reading lists.
the workload for quantitative courses is more spread out throughout the year. granted, some students still dont do the worksheets but it's really in your own interest to keep up with them because it will help you a lot with revision and it's easier to get high grades in quants.
generally speaking, people who get firsts are people who keep up with the workload consistently. i'd say you need perhaps 2/3 hours a day and more when you have specific assignments but, as i said before, it really varies and you'll figure it out when you get your essays/worksheets back.
