This email I sent to Birkbeck should sum up everything:

    Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am currently a year 13 student in my final year of sixth form, next year I'm going to university to study physics so I wont have, for a long time, the chance to study philosophy. I realise that it's late in the course but I just found out about Birkbeck's evening classes and I was wondering if it would be possible to sit in on evening philosophy lectures. Please respond with any relevant details you can provide for me and, let me know if you require any more details from my side.

    Thank you. Yours faithfully,

Thing is, I sent it about a week ago and still no reply. Was it a stupid idea, do you think they would let me? If they don't agree would it be possible to sit in on lectures at another univercity, UCL or KCL for example. Would I need some sort of identification or can I just pop in to the lectures?

I don't know. They're a bit rubbish for not replying though. To whom did you send the email?
