Good Hairdresser in Oxford?

I'm planning on getting a complete re-style on my hair (i.e. quite long to pretty short) and so am looking for a decent hairdresser not too far from the centre of town. I don't mind paying more for a better cut, as it's quite a drastic style change!
Does anyone know of anywhere I could go?

mahoganny on little claredon street, by browns and maison blanc.

It's actually on Market St
And yes, Mahogany definitely, especially if you're having it cut short. They're not cheap (prices start at 56 quid) but when I got my hair cut short everyone that I knew who had done the same said to go there, so I did and they did a really good job. In my experience the girl with the bleach blonde hair (I think she's called Louella or Louise or something) probably did the best job - better than the creative stylist (i.e. more expensive!) that I saw the second time.

Toni & Guy's. George street.

anne veck on st clements is pretty good and you can get a student discount.

avoid toni and guy. they've got some good people but it's unreliable.

Any recommendations for men's hairdressing too? I'm dubious that the place I normally use is all that good.

Mahoganny - there are THREE branches of it in Oxford - one on Turl Street, one on Market Street and one on Little Clarendon Street. I second Boo's recommendation of Louella at the Market Street branch, she's ace.

The ones that read the works of Epicurus to you while washing your hair.

Brilliant, thanks guys. I'll try and summon up the courage to book an appointment now, and say goodbye to my lovely long hair!

My male friends always use Walter's, but I think that's because they don't know what they want - they just go in, point, make some vague noises...

The one at the junction of Little Clarendon St and Walton St is good in my experience. Around a tenner if you go in the week.
