Just a quick question for people who actually know about finances: I set up a direct debit a while back, and have cancelled it just now using HSBC internet banking. Do I still need to contact the bank by phone/letter to confirm, or is cancelling it online enough?
Worked for me. I cancelled a DD online a year ago and haven't had any problems.
You should contact the originator in case they still try and take it.
id ring up just in case, sometimes there systems make stupid mitakes. Just double check by ringing.(at least).
