Pharmacy at Wolverhampton

I'm currently in my first year of A-Levels at college and have been trying to get an idea of what uni I want to go to. I want to study Pharmacy (MPharm) and have been recommended to look into Wolverhampton by many of my teachers at sixth-form - most of them being wolvo graduates.

I was wondering if the department was any good?
I know that it is fairly new and like everywhere, has had a few teething problems. This doesn't really bother me as such, and although I do know that the uni hasn't got the best reputation, it is quite handy to where I live.

Also, anybody got any ideas about what grades/subjects they require. I'm studying Chemistry, Biology and French, so hopefully this will be acceptable.

Thanks

Your subjects are perfect as you have both chemistry and biology. However, personally I would avoid Wolverhampton altogether.

There's nothing wrong with Wolverhampton. Do you know what kind of grades you will be expecting to get? If they're not your AB grades, it might be worth looking into Wolverhampton. I know they have quite a good pharmacy department. If you're aiming for As or Bs, it might be worth looking into universities with a higher reutation, such as the ones 'miss. know it all' above is applying to.

How is saying that I don't want to go to wolverhampton become rude? I didn't say that nobody in this world should go to it. People are allowed to have opinions...

Well so far signs are good and I'm looking at getting A/B grades in those subjects. I don't really want to move far like I said, and have a really nice job in Boots which I'd be able to keep. So the only other choice would be Aston - which I'm not that keen on sadly.

By the way Fizzee, just a bit of info I you don't mind. Will other uni's be interested in me, as I only have 2 sciences (bio & chem) and french?

Every uni will be interested in you (maybe not Bath though I think). The fact that you have to have 3 sciences is only a myth.

You will require BBB to get accepted for Pharmacy at Wolverhampton, but i suspect that will change once the uni is fully accredited very soon!

The pharmacy course is very well taught...the department is modern with good facilities. Get introduced to real pharmacy straight away whereas a uni like aston u start dispensing etc in the 2nd year...so its a very good uni overall for pharmacy......but for other courses it is kinda **** 2 b fair.

I got an offer from Bath and I only did two science subjects (I did Chem, biol and Spanish).

I sat in on a pharmacy talk at wolv yesterday. Ok so it was aimed at 12 year olds (!!) but it was really interesting. It does sound like a good course.. and the expected salary doesn't sound too bad!
