It' difficult. the reason I need info. is because this time I would actually like to kick the managers ass

Bloody hell, what's wrong with this manager? Most managers are dicks tbh, especially with a low-paid job like that! Trying to sue her won't get you anywhere.

What do you think she is doing that's illegal? We can probably tell if it is (I've worked as a paperboy as long as I have been able to and our paper shop used to have a copy of the legal stuff up on a wall until it was sold).

Hey All,

Could someone please find me a link showing paperboy rights of kids in the UK. I've found some but they are for other countries. Alternatively, if you know any yourself, would you be willing to share? The reason for asking is because my brother's new boss lady is a bitch and we think we can do something about it legally. Surely, there must be some rights?

TY

get him to quit and find another paperboy job. I'm sure he'll find one even in this climate.

I remember from when I was a paper boy that you are actually below the law. They can treat you how they want to, because the government don't care about paper boys. The woman who you call a bitch could legally enslave or kill you if she wanted to. There is a clause written into every single law that deems paper boys not important enough to be a victim of any crime.

For God's sake, get a real job

Hi guys. I do a paperound 6 days a week and have approximately 17-19 papers to deliver. What i want to know, are what are the legal rights for a paper boy??? The problem is that i'm 13 and these new people have taken over and i am the youngest paper boy in the shop. I only get paid £16 a week. She has changed all the rounds since they took over and i have such a hard round. What is the maximum papers a paperboy can deliver. The papers i deliver are far away from each other. Help me!

Thats awful  cant your folks have a word with them? Its not like you even have many options is it, as I dont think there is any other job at all you can do at 13. The money doesn't sound bad? £16 a week is quite good going at your age! It just sounds like it needs to be a bit more fair where you work. Not sure what the legal amount of papers you can carry is, I dont think there is one, i'm pretty sure there wont be infact. You might have to swallow your pride & get one of those crappy trolly things!

Can the newsagents just cut their wages. My son was being paid a wage and without telling them they've cut his wages because they are paying him by the paper now

You don't have to wait until he has a replacement. Tell them you will be leaving on one week's time and you will collect your final wages a week from today (whichever day you tell them).

You don't have a contract so pack up right away. He can not make you do your paper round till he finds someone new. I am an adult paper deliverer 67 years old. It sounds like you need to quit because that many papers for that long in time is rediculous. Officially you are not supposed to start till 7am for school kids . So quit.
