    Hiya,

I was wondering if anybody knew and could tell me the average salary of a Geography Teacher in England?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know the specifics, but it's going to be pretty poor. Teachers are generally underpaid, they don't go into it for the money.

I think I'd quite like to be a geography teacher, or a dentist!

It can be higher than that, and you get a golden hello in some places.

correct. but come on, if you can use a computer, you can use google. It's probably faster than waiting for someone to reply to your question on here anyway. It's just laziness, get someone else to find the information for you.

No golden hello for geography, it's not a priority subject. All teachers start on the same salary, regardless of key stage or subject taught. (except private schools and the like)

    That's a bit of a variation!

Dentists (one would presume) get paid more than geography teachers, and once you get over the looking into the back of peoples mouths every day in and out is probably less stressful than a secondary school teacher in any subject.

    EDIT - Yup, they do.

Well you might think that is the case but the reality is somewhat different. If you have any relevant experience, you can start some way along the main pay scale.

The average Geography teacher would be on something like £33,000 per year. The pay rates other people have quoted are for new teachers starting out in the profession.
