I want to do economics...at cambridge or LSE ideally. My choices are maths, further maths, buisness studies and religious education. R.E. only because its an easy A grade for me...I'll drop it at A2.

Are they okay?
what do i need to do to get in when i apply next year?

Does barclays do work experience???

No point dropping RE next year because business studies gets a hard rap anyway, better spreading your bases and continuing all 4.

Also definately recommend getting some work experience, for economics it can be anywhere really. I wouldn't focus on the major banks because they tend to look at under graduates in the summer holidays rather than 6th form students.

we aint offered economics at school.
But its really what I want to do.

I'll keep the four options..I was only gonna drop it cuz of free periods..but I already get loads anyway!

Any suggestions for work experience?

ANNND, any tips/ things to do..like community service or reading economics books before applying to cambridge or LSE...because the competition for economics is a lot!
And I'd really do anything to get in!!!

LSE do NOT count Business Studies and RE as academic a levels neither does Cambridge so to them (technically) you only have maths and further maths which is not good enough! You need to take Econ A level (if possible) or a science or some more academic or traditional a levels!

You might be better off posting this in the Economics forum - or just looking over there because I'd imagine lots of people are asking the same questions!
