into a brick wall, for example. driver safety needs to be guaranteed whilst causing as much damage as possible.

25mph I'd guess, in a new car with a 5* NCAP rating.

I've never carshed a car before. I presume you can do it while it isn't moving.

If there was a moving train:
:train:

And it was moving at 100mph, and you were following it at 100.5mph, then you made contact...
Maybe if you drive safely, you won't carsh it.

5* NCAP is roughly safe to drive at ~30 into a brick wall but why would you want to and why would you take the risk?

300mph if you're Richard Hammond.
How fast was Clarkson going when he crashed into that wall while driving a lorry?

depends. there is no 'safe' speed to crash a road car really - too many variables. If you start putting in cages, harnesses, HANS and helmet, reinforcements etc, then it becomes more feasible, but it is inadvisable to crash a road spec car at any significant speed.

If you must destroy the car, just beat it with a sledgehammer, then set it on fire (but not when you're in the car). Much safer.

Clarkson was hurt in that though so i would'nt call that safe.

F1 drivers always crash at speeds of at least 100+ and come away fine.

In F1 cars. which are tested to those speeds. the new renault's failed its test (side impact IIRC) and is having to be reworked. Plus they have HANS, harnesses, helmets etc. A road car is vastly different, as NCAP only test at average road speeds or lower.

Indeed he was - that's how come I wanted to know how fast he was going so that I could say that 1mph less might be OK :p:
