I think its basically where you mentally cant cope anymore and give up and get depressed and anxious and have panic attacks and cant face doing anything

Our history teacher had one....she ran around screaming, burst into tears, and was carried off...didn't see her for 2 terms.

And no, it wasn't my doing!

It generally means losing the ability to function properly as a person - ie. ones mental state becomes so disturbed you cease to be able to look after yourself, relate to others, work, eat, sleep properly.

Usually linked with depression or possibly very high stress levels but obviously has other triggers. Defined as : a severe or incapacitating emotional disorder.

My dad had one last year.

Possibly. But that would have to depend on how severe our anxiety/panic attack/depression was.

Not really - to have had a nervous breakdown you really do need to have reached a stage at which any mental problems you are experiencing leave you unable to cope anymore. For example, many people have mild depression which lasts only a few months at most (I myself have experienced this). This would not however be a nervous breakdown. IMO.

*sighs* I've had plenty. I usually just burst into fits of tears and cry "I can't do it anymore!" and then I sob and quiver for a while and eat chocolate.

it's when you wake up in the morning with a guy that you don't remember, can't find your clothes, in a house that is not yours, and when you go out, can't find your car

Whats this???
cant sleep, and when Im lieing down and relaxing for no reason my heart starts to pound so so fast, like it wants to jump out of my body, I sweat and have take huge breaths to slow it down and usually a cold glass of water does the trick after about 10 minutes, and that ALWAYS happens when Im lieing down and relaxing, why?

This sounds like tachycardia.

See a doctor soon.

 yeah thats exactly how it is. Unfortunately my doctor is stupid, I'm losing loads of hair on my head and she gave me a coconut shampoo, which has not done anything except give me oily hair.

Common causes are autonomic nervous system or endocrine system activity, hemodynamic responses, and various forms of cardiac arrhythmia.

I know I have problems with my hormones, cos part of my Pituary gland in the brain is missing, biology experts do you think this is the cause?
Is it serious, can I die from it?
lessthanthree

Basically, it is treatable, but it does require medication [possibly for life] and in some cases, an implant into the chest to steady your heart when it goes too fast.

 this is all Shane's fault, bastard.
