RAF FORUM, A FORUM SOLEY FOR THE RAF
Look, a lot of people have been happily using the vast amount of inof on this thread for MANY months now, and don't appreciate people who have just logged on because they have finished their poxy GCSE's or A-Level's, and decided they don't like it because it takes too long blah blah blah.

I will happily look at all RAF threads on this site, but I don't see the need for people to keep coming on here and whinging about it, but hey, that's what teenagers do I suppose.

Rhys,

You seem to mis-understanding the aim of Discussion Forums.

This one is to swap information. There doesn't have to be one sole forum where all informtation is provided. This has got months of good advice, stories and personal opinions.

If you against sharing information and working together, then you don't belong in the RAF. Get with the programme son!

 Gosh, so little words cause this much upset!! I aim truly sorry...
Anybody heard the word sarcastic!?

cwarranto, I’m not misunderstanding anything. Please keep your comments to yourself. (I know I will from now on)

Icklecathy, I agree there should be many threads about different RAF topics. This would organize the information so its not all bunged into one thread like this one. Sure this thread is great for sharing information, I’ve got much useful info from it myself. Personally i find that when information is shared, archived and organised like this RAF forum site, http://raf-forum.cjb.net/ , its more efficient and easier to use...

who are you to tell people on this forum where and where not to post?
erm...who are you to accuse me of this? Never and never will I tell people where to post.
It intrigues me to know why you wrote this and where your evidence comes from to back it up?

Woooaaaaa !

Nee Naw Nee Naw >> Hose Out >> Water ON!!!

Swiftly moving on..........

I read an interesting srticle yesterday saying that by the time Webley Stadium is built, the whole of the Army will fit inside it, the Navy will have sent a bigger task force to the Falklands thant the fleet they will own and the RAF Museum will have more figther aircraft than the RAF.

I (We) all know some cuts are on the way, are people getting in a tizz just to still up public feeling in the Armed Forces.

Lets face it, they could do with a little public support at the moment.

My mistake, it was Ryan (one of the 2 Ryan's) who said to post elsewhere. But you did say to kill the thread which implies people shoud stop posting on it. Anyway, i'm gonna keep posting on here and the other threads until one is removed if that's what's going to happen.

Actually son, they are not. I was informed of this at my AFCO, as have others been. Furthermore, i pushed, and i mean actually had to push the point with a couple of boarding officers whilst i was at Cranwell and they admitted as much. They are hopefull that the quotas will change but for those who have attended in the past few weeks or so the slots are just not there at the moment. Well done with your non commissioned position. Wish you the best of luck with your medical (eyesight prob or something?). Not the best time to be joining the RAF, blame the government and beurocratic mismanagement of budgets.
No medical problems thanks 'son'. As i thought you would know, any flying branches require a second more in depth medical involving spirometry, chest x rays, an electrocenteliograph and base line blood tests. Also the role of NCA WSOp (ALM/AEOp) is an increasing and evolving role with new aircraft such as the Sentinel, A400M and MRA4, and the expansion of Brize Norton etc and as such i do not agree that it is not the best time to be enlisting. Far from it, i believe we are seeing exciting changes in the way the military works and although there are bound to be cuts, the budgetting and mismanagement you talk about happens in every part of government service. Believe me 'son', i've just left the police force and that was as bad as it gets.

Hmm..considering this site 'Uk-learning' is aimed at people taking there GCSE's and A-level's i find your 'poxy' comment quite offending. How can they be poxy? They are the backbone to every higher level education, not to mention communication and valuable life skills gained by completing them.

I'm sure there are around 18,000 other members who agree with me.

Ok if we are getting uppity i should point out that the recall medical is known as part 2 medical not the specialist medical you originally referred to.

providing i pass the specialist medical in the next few weeks

Those people who pass everything else and are wanted but have a specific problem that has come to light e.g. hearing, sight. Will be asked to see a specialist thus a specialist medical. Which is why i expressed concern for you. Your sarcastic response has reassured me that you havn't got a commissioned post, a little immature to be honest.
The role of Weapon Systems Operator may well be increasing, but the role of commisioned Weapons System Officer is certainly decreasing which is the reason they are no longer offering permanent commissions for WSO, only 12 years. The point i was making is that for those wishing to be a commissioned officer, especially aircrew at the moment, it is not a very good time. Which is why a statement such as

Firstly, the RAF is currently actively recruiting aircrew and pilots so please don't be put off anyone. If there were no vacancies, they would tell you at AFCO.

is a little misleading. Please do contact your AFCO, if they are anyway half decent, they will tell you the truth about recruitment at the moment, as they told me.

Because they are sooooooooo easy compared to Higher Ed, as you will no doubt find out. And yes i'm sure at the time they seem very big and scary but trust me there is much worse to come.

Just thought i would express myself a little...can people stop sying the RAF are not recruiting...i know more people in the forces than i've got fingers and toes. they all say that if they think your good enough they will give you a shot, no matter what government or whoever else is trying to do. Maybe wrong but the whole thing about the gov. making shortages was probably made up and passed on through this thread.

Thats the bad thing about this thread, the unorganisation and members sharing bullsh!t!

Its a fair point. No wonder people are complaining about the size of the thread. There is some really helpful info on here as I am sure most would agree, but posting 'argument' replies is annoying. At least give each other email addresses and argue via email!
Well I've said my bit and am hoping the thread continues indefinately.

I know there may not be as many places in the RAF anymore but obviously there are some places otherwise they would stop calling people to OASC. Everyone who wants to should give it a go anyway cos what have you got to lose???

All im suggesting is that we should use http://raf-forum.cjb.net/ for topics related to the RAF. As said before, this thread is getting very long and is extrememly un-organised. With the RAF forum it is organised and you can find information quickly, and get a responce from other people who are interested in joining the RAF quickly and effectively. Im not saying this is a bad forum, im simply sugguesting we use the RAF forum because it is designed soley for RAF related topics. If you dont like it fair enough, but im determined to make it established.
