The British youth is brainwashed....

reading through the posts on TSR, i have come to the conclusion that the vast majority of British youths are programmed to think in a certain manner.

The syllabuses taught to you at school and college is biased to show how no God exists and how great the west is (capitalism, democracy etc.) I think this problem is mainly with the lower middle classes, the thing that really annoys me is they think they are clever.

The fact is the majority are taught to live like monkeys- all they want from life to be happy is sex, shelter(nice house) and materialistic things. I Plead with you to get out of this bubble.

morals, family values, respect, friendship, brotherhood, manners, intellect!!!!

il leave you with a little quote:

“The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses.”- Malcolm X

Eek! Brave New World in action!
I'd be more inclined to respond intelligently if you hadn't spelled "manner" wrong...
How is teaching people to believe god exists not brainwashing? Surely it is better to teach non-existance.
As soon as you mentioned "Brotherhood" I became suspicious, then when you quoted Malcolm X I switched off entirely. We're not going to be all Muslims, accept it.

'all they want from life to be happy is sex, shelter(nice house) and materialistic things.'

And?
If that's enough for them, what's the problem?
I would be more inclined to think that teaching people to believe in a god in an educational institution is brain washing....

Why only the lower middle classes? Maybe they really are clever (you can't generalize)?
Anyway back on topic I generally do agree with you- sex and material things do figure quite high on people's ingredients for happiness. However that's not always the case... morals, family values, friendship, manner, intellect and especially respect are all more important than material possessions in my eyes. But sex? no I wouldn't say that its essential to our happiness.... a trusting relationship yes but sex on its own is meaningless.

Surely it's better to teach people to make up their own minds?

I don't agree fully with OP, but some bits I do agree with.

I f**k my mum - does that count?

There is no proof that God exists (and no the Bible is not proof, don't give me that crap Christians) so why should we teach them it at all?

All we can do is teach theories and the reasons and let them make up their own mind.

Considering there are church schools which teach kids as young as 5 all the way to 11 that God is real, he exists and that Jesus really did walk on water, don't you think that is brainwashing?

I have never learned in school that God doesn't exist (secondary school), only that he does exist (church school)
Agreed. However, this is present in most, if not all societies. It is the "norm" which changes over time whilst being imprinted in the minds of the masses. What the elites want now are obedient, docile consumers under the illusion of "freedom".

Interesting points raised though I don't agree with you really. I think what you are referring to is levels of pleasure, as J. S. Mill put it, "it is better to be a man dissatisfied than a pig satisfied, better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied." Ie. That higher pleasures are the intellectual ones, rather than materialistic.

I think until sixth form, I was also taught that no other type of government could succeed besides democracy thought that wasn't because of the syllabus and I doubt everybody has that experience.

Child development isn't all down to what is taught at school and most cultural problems stem from social circles - I just can't put my finger on where.

So you're saying we should be home schooled.
Strange, I would've said the National Curriculum & the media inculcates socialist/theist principles far more than capitalist/atheist ones.
