This has to be a good thing! Id not thought about this angle before when someone gets in the papers complaining, but think what would happen if the people with ridiculous numbers of As always got in automatically.
Public schools would immediately start coaching all their candidates to get the absolute maximum possible. Weirdly hothousing parents who decided that little Jonny was Oxbridge material even before he started infants school would provide private tutors and pester their childs school to let him take extra A levels in year eleven. Everyone else in state schools would start worrying that even four wasnt enough. All in all bad news for everybody!
