Around about 130. Really ****. I have no idea what to do. Am gonna have to do so well in the A2's. But how far can I get with the E's at AS?

Well if you max your A2s, you will get 430/600 which is a B.

But if you get Es at AS, it is seriously deluded to expect 300 UMS at A2 unless there's a bloody good reason for the first set.
quit.....go to another college and do them. or get your mom in and tell them to let you do it, dont just accept it. its not fair that u shudnt have to. plus realistically in a2 level u probebly wont get above a b if u got es at as, and even that is at a push.....so i wud think 360ish wud be the best u cud do....not sure wat it is tho bout a c i reakon max

In need of dire help. I can't resit any AS exams because my college won't let me. So, have to stick with the E's. I'm gonna have to concentrate on the A2's. Shall have to ace them. Can anyone help me work out what the highest grades that I can get at A2 are? I really need to know. Please.

How, in Jehovah's good name, did you find yourself sufficiently cocaine-addled to score straight 'E's at AS? That is, assuming you deem yourself of the calibre necessary to warrant 'A's at A2.

I should surmise "extenuating circumstances", to say the very least.
Dude why the hey can't you resit??? and how did you get streight E's??! :p:

Damn, blast and botheration.

:thrasher:
i was going 2 resit an AS module this jan, and i missed it and they're still going to let me do it this summer! you should take it further with your college, because that's just not fair! especially since you can keep whichever grade is highest!!

Hey, that's a tad unfair: the one coke addict that I know managed to get BCU for AS!

Is that so? Damn these hyperbolic generalisations of mine.

If you get EEE at AS you won't get BBB at A level, not impossible but almost.

if they have a 100% no retake policy (are we talking exams or the whole year) then you could switch colleges (which is kind of a hassle), enter as a private candidate at another centre (hassle + expense) or offer to pay the exam entry fees at your college (if this is their problem, but that could be quite expensive). Take your pick

I think the highest grade you will get is at least a grade C/D. If you work very hard you might get a grade higher than I suggested. It's quite stupid that the college doesn't allow retakes. At least you are paying for it. As other people said, the best bet is to go somewhere else and do the resits.

You can ask your parents to complain about this.

my friends college didn't allow resits so she did the modules she needed to retake at another college in the local area and it worked out ok for him.

Well, it was down to extenuating circumstances that I got E's. But, I can do well at A2, with a lot of hard work.
anything is possible. dam those resits, screw the college policy.

surely you can submit those circumstances to the exam board? but ti think had to be BEFORE the exam. also, maybe move colleges? cos thats the only place i've heard of that doesnt let u resit modules. offer to pay, think might be bout £28 to pay to resit.

mathematically, with 130UMS at AS worth 50% of the A2:

Grade A: (600*0.8)=480, (480-130)/3= 116 NOT POSSIBLE TO GET GRADE A AT A2

Grade B:frown:600*0.7)=420 (420-130)/3= 96

need an average of 96% per A2 module to get grade B overall= HIGHLY UNLIKELY

Grade C= (600*0.6)=360 (360-130)/3=76

need to average 76% per A2 module to get grade C overall. this means you need all As at A2 modules and is REASONABLY POSSIBLE

Grade D=600*0.5=300 (300-130)/3=56.6

need to average 56% in A2 modules to get grade D oevrall. this means you need to get all Ds at A2 which is LIKELY

Grade E= 600*0.4=240 (240-130)/3=36.666

even if you fail all the A2 modules, provided they are over 36% each ie a near fail/near pass, or if you get all Es at A2 you can get a grade E overall.

hope helps
