Physiotherapy - in pants?

Went to my GP today who told me, amongst other things, that I'll need physio for the rest of my life - whey
Anyway, I've only had physio treatment in a pool when I was younger - but I have an appointment next week at the clinic and was wondering what it would entail...and most importantly if it'll be one of those things where you just keep you underwear on? as in that case I need to buy some big pants.
Has anyone ever had it?
I've heard it can sometimes be quite painful, is this so?
Would appreciate info from anyone whose had experience.

Depends where you are having physio. When I had physio for my lower back, the first few i was just in my underwear (although i could keep a strappy top on). Then having traction, i could keep my trousers one.
Mine was painful at the time, but it's worth it. The pain seemed to relieve it in some way!!

As above - it depends where on the body you're having physio.

I've had it on my back as a child, and was in underwear. Then had it on my leg and could roll my trousers up. Then on my shoulder, which required a bra... I also got to wear a gown because I wasn't comfortable bearing all lol.

I had physio on my back and had to wear just underwear. The physiotherepist said it was fine to bring like small shorts/sports bra to wear if you feel more comfortable in that.

What im doing isnt painful, its designed to prevent pain. But as people have said it depends what you are having physio for, what is it for? perhaps people could give more specific information then.

Hope it goes well

It's mainly for my hips and lower back
I think I'm going to take a pair of boxer type shorts along as suggested
