Catered accommodation

Hi, I have a conditional offer for medicine at imperial and was wondering what the catered accomodation was like? Unless I'm wrong there's only one actual catered hall but also intercollegiate halls? What are both of these like and what are the chances of being allocated a catered room? I'm not desperate for cetered accomodation but as it'd be my first year living away from home in London, it'd probably be a good way to get settled.

Cheers

i didnt know how to cook - but we all have to learn some time. also it gives you time to be familiar with prices of food in supermarkets. if you have catered accomodation it is likely you will be learning to cook some food by yourself anyway. i think most of the halls are self-catered.

only one IC hall is catered. and that only provides the evening meals from Monday to Friday. The rest of the time you're supposed to sort yourself out. From what I hear, the kitchens in that hall are quite small (to discourage u from cooking yourself, and thus actually going to hall meals). So you're better off going for self catered in a normal hall, and learn to cook sometime. It's not that hard

intercollegiate halls are catered, but you don't get the flexibility of mealtimes you have wehn you're in self catered. and also the intercollege halls are v far away from IC! (min 1/2 hr walk)

The food starts off fine, but by now in term, its really repetitive. I'll deal with it, but I wouldn't eat here for a year again. Quite pricey at £3.90ish a meal too
