Marriage / Family?

Who in here wants to get married and have kids when they grow in??

I used to always want to grow up, get married, have my own kids.
Later I started wanting to adopt kids instead.
Then after seeing failed marriages around me...and my parents hating each other...but my mom staying just for me and my brothers...I gave up the thought of getting married.
Finally...I don't even want to adopt kids. I just want to live with a few lovely cats and maybe have a committed bf. But not marriage.

I'd like to get married and have kids but I don't think I could deal with getting divorced though :frown:

Yeah definately. I look forward to being married and having children with a man that I love and loves me in return.
People say they don't want to get married cos of the divorce rate - but you have to think positively about this kind of thing, if you are truly in love with someone you aren't gonna say I don't wanna marry you just in case we get divorced later in life. Well I certainly don't think like that - it's a chance you have to take if you love someone and want to spend the rest of your life with them.
I want to get married and have kids. I like children. I will love my children. I will love my wife. And hopefully all the love will be mutual until the day I die.
I honestly don't know

And I'm sure you will be a really good dad one day. They aren't as scary as they might seem once you get used to them lol.

I can't think of anyone in my family that I know (it's a large family...I'm not a family person) who has a sucessful marriage. All of them have broke up, or got 2nd+ marriages.
I don't agree with marriage for people who aren't religious, so I doubt that I will ever get married. I know it is a lot easier for morgages/banks etc but it's not essential.

I don't want kids. I never have done. When I was growing up my Mum fostered and so there were always younger children around, and now I have a baby (ok he's 3 now) brother. His Mum isn't what you would call smart and so I often try to teach him manners and look after him. I don't want to have to do it again full time.
A friend of mine put it another way..for the price of a kid or two you could get a good ferrari.
almost everyone in my family is divorced

I would love to have kids

But my career comes first

Would rather have 2 children and just keep my little Saxo forever, than never have children and have a posh car.

Theyre talking about these "civil union" things... giving long term unmarried partners the same rights as married couples... that might be something to look at perhaps

I never seriously imagined getting married and having kids when I was younger. All my friends seem to have it planned out to the last detail years ago...but I'm coming round to the idea now

Kids last longer than Ferraris. And a Ferrari will never love you - at least with kids you've got a chance.

Although I think having children can be rewardng I want to have my life. My Mum has jsut started to get her life back now that she doens't have to worry about me and my sister. She's said numerous times how she wishes she were a teenager again and how she feels that she hasn't had a life outside of children for 18 years.
I don't want that to happen to me. The car thing was a metaphor for life, although my friend does just want the car.

Yes but you can have your life and have children. I don't plan on having children until I'm at least 26 (that way I will have enjoyed a good part of my life and hopefully have a good career).
You can have both if you really want it.

Aw, that's a really nice way of putting it.
