RAF phase 2 training (trade training)

Just a quick, rather silly question about when you are on trade training. How does it differ from RTS?

Do you still stay on base at all times apart from some weekends? Or can you leave in evenings? What's the accomodation like, how is it different from Halton?

I'm guessing that it largely depends on which trade you are going for, and therefore where you are actually doing the training, but any info would be appreciated  .

Thanks, Oli x
Like you said - depends on Trade so depends on camp so the accommodation can vary from something like 4 man rooms to fairly battered blocks.

How you and your course get on with stuff and progress will influence how you are treated and what latitude you get. You should get more free time, but as I said, that depends on whether you mess up!

You will still have to march everywhere as a formed unit, or individual whilst in uniform, and you will also have to pay the correct compliments should you happen to meet an officer. Also, you will still be expected to keep your uniform up to scratch, and the blocks clean and tidy. They will be inspected, but probably not as often as they are at RTS.

The main point of trade training though is to fill your head with everything required to turn you from a basic aircraftsman in the RAF into a productive tradesman in the RAF.

Quoted for truth.

It does vary pretty hugely by trade as mentioned, a copper or PTI for example will leave phase 2 with his Cpl. tapes, hence the training is generally stricter and a little bit more hard work. All in all however it's a good bit more relaxed than halton in terms of your general living, you'll be able to get plenty of sleep on a night and while block/uniform inspections carry on they're less frequent and a bit more lenient, the emphasis is on you completing your trade course.

If you know where you're going for phase 2 then post it up, there's a good chance someone else will have been there and can give you a proper insight.

Thanks guys for all the info  , I'm going in as a Mover, so will be at Brize for approx 4 months.
You'll love the Movements School and the mock-ups will be your second home. Your local pubs will be the Aviator and the Beehive. Work hard and enjoy yourself. There is a very good chance that you'll do your first tour at Brize too. Well - slightly more than Lyneham really.
i am going as a driver. whats it like at Leconfield?
