I've onyl glanced at some replies but I thought I'd just say I wouldn't worry too much about what you have or haven't put down under interests  They're not going to group people based entirely on interest, or one specific interest. They first have to ensure they balance where you're from, state/public school etc. I'm sure the interests is more just so they don't have a flat full of musicians except for one person, for example.

Besides, you'll make friends with people who share your interests through societies - you may get on just as well with people who are very different.

exactly, I can't imagine anything worse than being put with 6 other people who are all into exactly the same things as me, I need variety in my life!
Seriously....just make a decision! Every year people seem to worry more and more about the tiniest of details within every hall; you are NEVER going to get a grasp of what a hall is really like by listening to other people (unless it's Durdham, in which case, they're probably bang on), so if you like the look of the hall and think you'd like to go there, stop panicking, pick it, and go and get on with trying to pass your exams/doing something constructive! There will always be at least one person within each hall that you with click with, unless you're a member of the monster raving loony party (in a non-ironic sense), so just relax!

I thought they sort it out after results day?

Oh, arse. Yeah, they do... I don't know why I thought like that lol. Sorry to make you panic!

But you get a lot of Unis who prioritise people with unconditional offers don't you... hmm. I don't know. Blah! Yeah, I'm thinking just go with Organised_Chaos and stop panicking and know that we'll be fine wherever

Obviously
Do you think if I put down 1. Hawthorns, 2. Hillside/Woodside, I'll be very likely to get into one of them? I'm just concerned because Hillside only houses 29 people, so it may well fill up fast.

Woodside is gorgeous - it literally is right next to the suspension bridge and has the clifton halls within a 10 minute walk of it. My brother-in-law's brother (mouth full) went there a few years ago and said it was great, the 29 people all tend to get on really well - it seems to require a certain state of mind to be willing to apply there.

I personally would love to go there - but I really want to be in catered halls (laziness factor).

I'm seriously considering amending my application now. I put Hillside/Woodside down as my second preference after Richmond Terrace but I'm liking the idea of being there more and more every day. Eeeee
tbh - Richmond terrace is probably just as nice, just quite a lot more expensive. So don't worry which you get into!
Im i stayed in catered halls Id go loopy...I dunno I like to cook it relaxes me.

I don't like cleaning dishes though 0_o

Go with your gut, thats my opinion on the whole situation - as organised chaos said it doesn't REALLY matter that much, so just go where you feel you'll be happiest - theres no need to over analyse

What do people think about Unite? I thought it looked nice, but no ones mentioned it on here really..

I cant make choices :| Im torn between Unite, Richmond Terrace (which looks popular this year) and Winkworth (also looks popular).
I looked round Unite House a while back... the 'show flat' was horrific.... Filthy, cupboard doors hanging off and no lights working..... the rooms looked like hovels.... :s-smilie: Dunno if that was just this one flat, as it was 4 guys sharing. but it put me off. I've applied to one of the other Unite places this year, dunno if it'll be any good but we'll see.....

Hmm see thats another thing thats putting me off.. everyone saying the rooms were horrid.. Course I dont know if thats due to the people living in them or the house itself.. :s-smilie: I mean.. they cant really rent you a room with doors hanging off.. so that must be down to the residents.. as well as the dirtyness of a place.. and I like cleaning, so that shouldnt be a problem either.

I suppose I'll be happy regardless of where I go though. Its what you make it right?

Absolutely it all about what you make of a place however...(and I am just working on hearsay) Unite owned properties tend to have poor reputations, simply because (unlike Univesity owned properties) they're run for commercial purposes and profit seems to be more important than addressing residents' concerns.
Yeah, people tend to mouth off about Unite a lot, but at the end of the day people are more likely to rant about the bad points of a place, than if they have good things to say.... And Unite hasn't gone out of business, so it can't be that bad
Ill throw my little worn rag in and just say yet again on this thread  that UNITE suck ass particularly in their administration. Although on the upside their hq is in bristol i believe so you could bang down the door if they sucked. (i know this after having to phone around for days to get someone to deal with my tenancy).

Ok pretty much decided to put Unite down as my second option. I'll deal with any problems if they occur lol, nice to have a heads up though!

Now I just cant decide between Richmond Terrace and Winkworth as my first choice..

Why am I so indecisive?!
