Bathrooms in flats are different from bathrooms in corridors, from my experience.
Bathrooms in flats are like home bathrooms, whereas bathrooms in corridors are more open, with multiple sinks etc - you're never going to be in a position where you can't get to one.

At Badock you pay £65 extra a year to have a sink in your room. Worth it? I'm not sure - you get less storage space, and I'd have nowhere to put my TV if I had a sink...

cool thanks for the advise! i think il put Goldney then Hiatt Baker! a good bar is always a plus point! does anyone know what the bar at Goldney is like? i can't wait to start now :-D bring on freshers week!

You know that Goldney's self-catering and HB is catered right?

You picked your second choice yet Ron?

;no;

I had a dream that I moved into The Hawthorns, and I was in a cluster with something like 5 baths when I'd asked for a shower. I was also at the University of Sheffield though so this may mean absolutely nothing.

I think maybe it's what I'll put as second. The Hawthorns that is, not Sheffield. I might email Goldney, Manor, The Hawthorns and Winkworth about what they provide for/how they deal with disabled students and see where that gets me I suppose.

whys? You don't even have a real disability. :p:

I doubt they'd do anything above and beyong helping those with mobility or sensory disabilities. PS I'd rather not be in one of the 'disabled' blocks in Goldney.

yer i do, im not fussed about going self catered or catered....im not a fussy eater but i dont mind cooking for myself either! i just thought Clifton area was a great distance from the uni and Goldney sounded the best option for me there...i know hiatt baker is in SB but all other Clifton halls were over subscribed and so i can't put them as a 2nd choice and thought the catered option in SB which were undersubscribed looked better for me than University Hall!

You could put a student house second. The word 'house' is pretty deceiving really.

If i put down Manor Hall as my first choice will i be broke for my time at university?
Reply 450
erm, you'll be broke if you can't afford it. Surely you knew that though? I don't think I understand the question.
Reply 451
Manor seemed cheaper than a few of the others when I looked... :s-smilie:

As I accepted Bristol as my firm choice I began to analyze the accomodation and I had some quesitons for students, who are already in Bristol .

1. What is better to chose: catered or self-catered accomodation? What the catered accomodation includes (what kind of food - in case of quality and quantity)? What choice is more 'economic'?

2. Which accomodation opportunities should I consider if:

- I wanted a plece with nice social life as studying without parties and fun is not studying...
- I rather prefer to live not to far from the Uni (I'm going to study economics and politics) as I wouldn't like to spend money on transport or time on walking too much...
- The price of the accomodation is rather important for me so I wouldn't like the most expensive one.

???

For the social side and the food side, I would say Hiatt Baker. Slightly cheaper than Wills (the other catered Stoke Bishop hall). However, you do have a 25-45 min walk in the mornings.

If you want to live close for cheap, you're struggling....

Baddock is catered too.

As for what is a better option between Catered and SC, only you can really answer that. Catered is my idea of hell, whereas other people might think that SC is.
