Buy stuff when you get there. The crockery/cutlery will probably all get stolen/broken by the end of term anyway, though I guess you might be able to leave it there throughout the year.

I read a lot of info from hall's webs and I had two important question.

I understand that hall's do not provide any beddign. Nevertheless, I will surely not able to bring it from home  Is it possible to hire/buy something cheap? What are the costs?

The next question is abour kitchen facilities. I noticed that there are not aby dishes, cutlery or pots available... Am I right? Do I have to buy something by myself (cause I will surely not take anything from home...)? How this kind of 'problem' is solved :P ?

im going for catered so cant speak for kitchen bits, but as for bedding, when i visited the halls, they said they sell bedding packages when you arrive for about 20-40 quid...

You should be able to get cheaper stuff than that I would have thought. Just buy some from a supermarket, should be quite cheap. I remember there being a pillow and duvet and Wills, so you may only need covers and a sheet.

Should be able to pick up a set of plates for about a fiver too.

IKEA and TK Maxx are your friends.
just a quick question... out of all the accomodation at bristol, which one is the best en suit accomodation? any pics would also be great!!

thanks

peace
I may be being awfully dense here, but when I clicked on the link for the accomodation prospectus 06/07 on the bristol website, the pdf I (eventually) got to seemed to be talking about 07/08 - could it be that they've put up the new one and not changed the link stating that it's last years? I'll check it again now, but I thought it might be a heads up to anyone looking at accom and might mean people start using the resources available as opposed to asking on here - if they're that desperate to know before it gets sent to them :]

nicer brochure this year I think. Catered halls up to a nice even 4k.

Excellent pics of Goldney.

is it just me or has EVERYTHING gone up by a crazy amount. I haven't seen the 2005 prospectus but is an increase this steep natural? I shudder to think how much it'd go up to by the time I finish my course.

yeah db, the font is oh so professional...almost as good as my sig

The Epigram did an article about the increase in accomm fees not so long ago, mainly about how they were out of step with general increases and in terms on what you were getting back. Goldney is up 200 pounds, which isn't really that awful, but I'd expect there to be a bigger jumper with catered.

Anyone got a link? I can't find the new prospectus.

The prices do go up massively each year. I seem to recall that the price I got on my bill from Badock was higher than was listed in the prospectus, by about £150. That's taking into account deposits and **** too.

Ah, I'm sure it can't be that bad - and anyway, (I think I'm right in saying your boyfriend's already at Bristol?) I'm sure you can go around his if the surroundings are really getting you down that much :p:

i'm actually kind of looking forward to being in UH
i don't mind having crappy facilities for a year if its that cheap.
Reply 554
You could probably get somewhere with good facilities for the same price as UH.

Actually scrap that, I didn't realise it actually cost that little.
Is it just me or is the accommodation so expensive that we will not be able to afford a social life?

Or to eat.
Welcome to the real world!

How much are you paying for Badock, if you don't mind me asking?

It's actually cheaper than a lot of other unis. Still, would be nice a little cheaper and it's going up faster than student loans.
