May i ask why?

More of a 'campus feel'?

more people around. That's all really.
Plus I'd really like to be by the downs..

But the fact that manor is so much nearer to the main uni buildings is very tempting..

People in clifton; what's the local supermarket?

Sainsbury's on the Triangle too. Somefield is generally the best of those three really. Well that's what I found.

Hey!

Although I have yet to put Bristol as my firm I am about 90% sure I am going to choose Bristol.
I have been looking at some accomodation and my two favourites are Wills Hall and Goldney Hall. I realise these two are the most hard to get into hence i have to choose which one I want to put as first choice.

Which accomodation would you recommend for a Swedish student reading economics and likes sports and also like to go out and party/drink?

I really don't know which one of these to choose. Wills seem to have nicer rooms and more of a community feel, but Goldney is much close to the uni and city.

Please give some advice which one would be best for me.
thanks

EDIT:For my second choice I will choose either Manor or Badock hall.

At first I thought that was you in your profile picture so I was gonna respond.

But then I saw that you were male, which rather dictates that it isn't you.

I think about living in SB and I'll surely use the bike to commute. Is it possible to buy some cheap bikes in Bristol because I'll not bring my bike from home (how much I'll have to spend on it)? Are thefts very common? Is it necessery to use helmets while using the bike in the UK?

Hi I'm living in Stoke Bishop at the moment.
I'm not sure what price bikes are as I have my own one from home, but be sure to get one with gears as the top of Whiteladies Road is quite steep.
Theft isn't too much of a problem as long as you have a good lock (I have one good one and one cheap one just to be extra sure!).. loads of people have bikes in Stoke Bishop so there is lots of storage space.
Also I would definitely get a helmet because the hill you cycle down into uni is very steep and busy especially at around 8/9ish in the morning... better to be safe!!
Hope this helps!

sorry...don't know if this has been asked before...but when are we supposed to actually move in?

thing is, the website says that term starts October 1st and that we should move in the 'sunday before term starts'...does that mean sometime towards the end of september? or does fresher's week start on the 1st of October?

also, does each residence (incl. student houses) have a separate date or is it just a standard thing for all?
Reply 609
In that case you'll move in 30 September. The term dates include freshers' week normally.
Reply 610
Yeah, the Bristol site says we move in on the 29th and 30th. Can't remember where, maybe on the key dates page.
Definately going for churchill now. How exciting

Gutted!
I can see why Churchill appeals, but having picking up info on here and other
places, I just wouldn't apply there.
Churchill is buff and i love the sb area. Based on what i've heard from this thing i just don't like the clifton side of things. No offence but all i've really heard is 'its really close' and 'stoke bishop is full of rahs' big deal
Reply 615
I was speaking to a girl in Churchill just last night, who was saying that (in her view) Churchill was the worst hall, and she completely regrets the fact she went there.

Stoke Bishop as such isn't necessarily full of rahs (UH, anyone?). But Churchill most certainly is.

Why on earth would you love the Stoke Bishop area? It's crap. If I wanted to live in the middle of nowhere, I would have gone to Warwick...

The walk up to the departments is cheaper than joining the gym though.
