Where the hell's Culver House when it's at home?

Reply 801

Culver Street. '3/4 of the way down Bristol's popular Park Street close to bars, shops and clubs but under tens minutes walk to the the Precinct.'

apparently

Reply 802

Ah yeah, found it on google maps. Right next to the Academy, apparently.

Reply 803

When's the earliest you can move in? I need to book my flight pretty soon, and I was just wondering about the date.

Reply 804

29th-30th of september for normal accommodation

Got my accomm pack this morning. Richmand Terrace looks like a pretty nice place for second choice, ditto for Culver House. It really is a nice brochure, smells good too.

I love it when brochures smell good. Thats when you know its all going to be ok

I wanted to pick Wills really badly, but heard enough stories about the hall already having lots of people who are already friends and as a result, far less sociable - hence their reputation. Chose goldney as 1st and Badock as 2nd.

I wouldn't completely change my first choice based on hearsay, going from a catered hall in SB to a self-catered one in Clifton based on something that may or may not be true could turn out to be something you regret.

The only hall I've ever heard that have the problem you mention is Churchill, and even then it's probably far less prevalent than you are lead to believe.

One question, badock was one of my top choices (as i want catered) but I heard somewhere they have single sex floors. Is this true? Don't wanna be on a floor of bitchy girls!

Reply 814

I think anywhere that has a communal shower room is going to be single sex. So most of the larger halls with corridor style living and one big shower room are going to be single sex. I think most of the catered halls are like that unfortunately.

Damn this is not good news. Are all shared halls single sex? Is this the case for Wills and HB?

Reply 816

I think Wills has a mix of both single sex corridors and mixed sex, not sure about HB though.

Reply 817

Hmm, well if someone could recommend which self catered hall I'd be most likely to get a room with ensuite AND be on a mixed floor I'd be very happy. Cheers!

Durdham, Goldney, Manor?

hb quote from the alternative prospectus

'Most floors are mixed but the bathrooms are separate - one girls and one boys on each floor.'

hope that helps
