Durdham, Goldney, Manor?

Goldney only has about 20 ensuite rooms and Manor has none. Durdham, Richmond Terrace and Winkworth are probably your best chances if you have to have an ensuite. Only one of those is a proper hall though, so depends how you feel about that.

Hiya, quick question...

In Goldney, Manor and the Hawthorns, are there any rules regarding putting picturs up in your own rooms? Probably only blutack will be allowed, if anything at all?
Anyone know, just that I am intending to put up a lot in order to banish that generic, prison-y feel. Haha

Also, is there any reason other than student numbers why student houses are not considered as good as student halls? I was thinking of the Hawthorns as second choice, and was wondering why a lot of people on here seem to suggest that student houses are somewhat less popular than student halls?

Thanks
!

The Hawthorns doesn't really count as a standard student house, considering the number of students there. I'm putting it as first choice, like a few others here. I'm not sure whether it'll be risky as second choice now that the uni bus has gone and more people will want to be near the precinct.

Oh right, ok thanks. I just read the alternative prospectus on Hawthorns and got the impression that its not very sociable within the house, because there are no social centres or big rooms for people to congregate in?!?

The social aspect is a huge deal for me, i'm torn between Goldney and Hawthorns as a first choice.

Do you have an opinion on the social life in Hawthorns?

it will be FANTASTIC..

(my first choice)
think im putting manor as first choice- even though its single sex and you have to share a kitchen with about 18 people. Should be a laugh.... anyone else?

That review seems reeeeeeally old. There's a bar on the ground floor apparently, I'm guessing that's the one they were planning to sort out back when the review was written. And yeah, it will be fantastic at the Hawthorns. Cos I'll be there. I'll get everyone to play sardines.

Practically everyone in Wills and HB has posters. In fact in every hall.

.. why would you NOT be allowed posters..?
Reply 832
Because blu-tack pulls paint/wallpaper off the walls.

I think your advised to keep it to just your noticedboard thing, but no one really sticks to that. They don't check up on it or anything so as long as you don't do major damage to your wall you should be safe.

Also, I wouldn't worry about people per bathroom/kitchen ratio either. Even though we only have 1 working kitchen between 24 (long story involving one of our kitchens being temp. out of action, thanks very much F-block....), there are no problems at all. People just get along and make the best of it. I've only had to queue for a stove once this year and never for the showers.
