Sent my accommodation acceptance and my student card/sports pass thing off earlier. I wish they'd stop bloody telling us to write on the back of passport photos, you have to either press so hard with a biro that it looks like you've had some weird scarification done or try to wait for wetter ink to dry... I made a big mess of it when I tried to put the glue on the back so I ended up sticking on a bit of sticky label stuff with my name on the back instead. I am a genius.

I wish there were photos of the inside of the accomodation tho...

I considered emailing and asking what colour my room is... I really hope they don't have a blue fetish at Queens Road. Cream or green... maybe even purple or red or yellow I could cope with. But blue is just majorly crap.

In fact they should do 3 cream walls in each room and then do the other wall a random colour. Much easier to work with. I think I might start a petition. :p:
Does anyone know what to do concerning bursaries?

and that is why you are at the university of bristol. accepts only the finest intellects from around the world.

also, about the room colour thing...my hawthorns place (if i get it) better not be that retarded flashy turquoise they have in the pictures. I'll get seizures.

@paranoid kid
yeah, they said they wouldn't this year save for audiology because its NHS funded. maybe it's a reputation thing.
Lol, my current answer to the bleakness of rooms (particularly in HB) is a rug. Girls can make everything look amazing with throws, but I think that might be a little too Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen...

Not sure...I haven't heard anything about it and haven't given my bank details to the university yet. I really want my bursary money by Freshers week though - it'll be the main bulk of my beer money

seee, i was hoping that too!
BUT, i've just been on the website and apparantly the bursary is split into 3 payments that you receive a few weeks into each term [how gay]
abood
no that's just specific to his offer
website says 31st august

.....actually i'm a girl with a fondness for a certain HP character... :P
But yeah, I wasn't expecting to get an offer for at least another week.... I thought they'd have to sort it all out after results etc... :s-smilie:

Oh dear... time to get a job and blitz some money for Freshers then...

On the upside, when everyone else is feeling down about how little money they have a month in, we will get a booster.

The bursary situation is incredibly lame. What exactly is the point of splitting the (in my case) £500 course-related costs bursary over the year when books etc are mostly bound to be bought in the first term? I wanted to use it towards a new laptop as well, I don't think I'll be able to find the money for one now... :frown:
I guess a bog-standard re-format is in order to get me through instead. :s-smilie:
the bursary does come in at some good intervals during the year though, at points when you'd think you wouldn't need that much money, but you actually do. Comes in just before christmas, so you have a bit to live off over the holidays, in march, which is just nice for buying stuff, and in june, when it can go towards the summer rent you'll probably end up paying on your student house. Either way, i loved the money, and will do next year...woop woop!

How does the course-related costs part work? Do you take receipts to someone? And do you reckon I can get the money back for those books I've bought over the summer in preparation for uni?
^^ They never checked for me, just gave me a cheque and a sports pass...
lol it's not even how they say it is; they assess your details and if youre eligible you'll get 3 installments of £333.33, easy as that

Ah, cool.
(Though it'll be 3 lots of £200 for me... it's all good )
me too [for the £200 thing!]

has anyone that had a conditional offer prior to results day, heard back about accom?

should i have put my thread on here...? its not really a question i guess

i'll post here too anyways...

Hi guys,

There is still accommodation available in Bristol for those who are only just applying for accommodation now, due to clearing etc.

Unite house still has some rooms available. It has excellent location - minutes away from the university, shops, clubs and bars. It’s also very reasonably priced.

http://www.bris.ac.uk/accom/current/unite.html

Unfortunately me and some mates had to pull out last minute, due to certain circumstances and it would be very good to see the rooms filled!!!

If you’re interested I would get in contact with them asap!

Sorry if this a stupid or obvious question but roughly when will we here from the uni to let us know what accomodation we've been allocated? I presumed it would of been pretty soon after results day.
