So waht's the student union like? is it like a university canteen?

The food in the union building is served at the Epi Bar, which is good enough - cheap and cheerful. You'd definitely get sick of it after a while though.

Student union is ugly but hosts a lot of societies, there is always loads going on in there. Also has a fair few gigs and balls throughout the year.

And I'm often in being a friendly security guard of an evening, which must be a selling point!

ian_rider - are you sure you want to be placed in the same place as your friend? As you're both doing dentistry you'll see them anyway, and if you live and study together, as well as having known each other previously, might it not get a little claustrophobic?

Don't think so, I've known her since I was born so we'll get on, definitely have to be in the same halls though!

Also my brother gave me a really scary version of his dorm bathroom about people partying and throwing up in the bathrooms

LOL - you do realise that does happen at CHH =P
but, eh, its just one of the charms of being at uni (and being on a corridor that everyone has to walk through to get to other corridors)
^ Likewise.. I thought people throw up in bathrooms everywhere

Although I'd probablt prefer to have my own one to do so in....in private

oh it's not that bad lol!! ^^^

you get to meet the most people as everyone needs to walk through my corridor so we hold the best kitchen parties :P
and besides, the whole puking thing, we've only had to deal with it 3 times last term (which considering the amount everyone drank was pretty impressive)

at the risk of sounding horrendously cliched, i really have had the best time last term, you've just got to take everything as it comes to be honest and make the most of it!

Ok a question. What is so bad about Woodland Court that it's almost never mentioned in this thread? I mean it looks all fancy and new for obvious reasons. And it's 5 minutes away from the precint. And it's all en-suite.

I mean the only bad things I can think of is that it's self-catered which shouldn't be too big a problem. And that there is no social life, which I believe can be corrected by Orbital. Any opinions???

Looking at this one, I think I remember vaguely... aren't a lot of the rooms shared?

The Macabre Vincent Price...

Actually no. All their rooms are single en-suites. But I heard that there are many internationals that end up there. Which someone said poses a problem cause of some language barrier. But I'm sure it can't be that bad.

Maybe it's the 42-week contract which I just found out. But then again the prices don't seem too far off from some of the other student houses and self-catered halls.
The reason its not mentioned as much is most likely because it's not a traditional hall as such, and most people do go in for the proper hall experience. Its a risky business allowing your social life to depend entirely on orbital, although you could still make great friends on your course.

Got it. I see where you're coming from organised_chaos. But if we're talking about plain ol' honesty, I'm just lazy to walk 30-40 minutes to Durdham which was what I originally had picked out.

Besides the centralized location and everything just a stone's throw away was really tempting.

Check out the Hawthorns. It's in the centre, but it's bigger.

I know people always disagree on this but I'd say it's more like 20-30 minutes walking, if that makes Durdham any more attractive.

It's not really the walking. I mean if you have your Ipod on and just walk or with friends it'll probably seem really short. I just don't fancy getting soaked when it starts to rain and I end up a wet mess. Thanks to all for your opinions.
what about the clifton halls? They're only 15 minutes away and are all really nice and sociable.

Yeah have become rather fond of Goldney. But competition to Goldney and Durdham both are crazy. Would like to end in either one of those places. Will just have to wait and see I suppose.

Be honest - do you have long legs? (Or more than two?)
