I thoguht this was pretty obvious - no idea how everyone got so confused :p:

It's like all Uni's you get to make accomadation choices if it's your firm, if it's your insurance you're pretty much left with what there is left.

In fairness of all those who got confused, you can see where they did. It says 'have insurance offers' which sounds rather general.

It means people whose Bristol offers are their Insurance... common sense is key.

Hey - I haven't seen you post in ages!
Just a quick thing to the existing students there:

Does each hall have their own sporting teams and stuff, much like the collegiate system at Oxbridge and play each other?
 Hi, I know this is so totally irrelevant to this conversation (and also slightly cheeky) but this thread has the largest number of replies and also the quickest so i'm hoping someone can help me! Are there any current chemistry students that could please send me a copy of their timetable or give me some kind of idea of what it consists of? It would be really helpful to know what a first year chemistry student's day is like, the amount of lab time we get, the number of lectures, timing, breaks etc, it would be an HUGE huge help!
Thank you!
Wooo just submitted my accomodation forms 2 days ago! I put Hiatt Baker as first and Wills as second so I get Hiatt Baker almost for sure hahaha..hmmm...:P

If you put HB first you've definately got it. Very few people put it first. By comparison 850 people went for 300 spaces at Wills last year, so I think you're pretty safe!

Hehe yeah!.. good tactics? right right? LOL I actually thought about it long and hard.. but it kinda swayed me when an international school kid suggested Hiatt Baker.. so.. hehe. Kinda sad about Wills but you don't have to stay at the residence for other years right?

No, most people move out after their first year.
I thought first years get the priority....so if you've got any chance at the more overly subscribed ones...it's during the first year.
I thought accomadation forms and stuff weren't sent out until May? Or are we meant to be sorting that now?!

If you look back through the last few pages of this thread, this is explained by several forum members for you.
Ahhhh, yeah, ok...get it now. Sorry. Gosh, read most of this thread from about November 2007 onwards and I'm suddenly getting all excited...although doing so probaly isn't helping me get the grades I need in order for my excitment to come to fruitition.

You know, I'm not even sure if that made sense. Emma, to bed.
I want to stay in winkie - is it worth putting a second choice on there or is it easy enough to get in?

(second choice would be manor)
Someone help please!!

I wen't to the open day yesterday, and we were shown round Manor but not Goldney. I can't decide between the two... any help??

Also... is Goldney basically in the grounds of Goldney hall? Is there any decent pictures of what the real residence looks like?

THANKS

I'm confused by your last question. Goldney IS Goldney Hall  If you've seen Goldney hall, then you've seen Goldney...

If you click the first link... the large picture shows an old buliding, but the far left small picture looks like a modern building.
This is what confuses me...

EDIT:
this http://www.flickr.com/photos/44847400@N00/278192588/
and this http://www.flickr.com/photos/dauve/262911665/

look completely different places :s-smilie:

Do some people live in the old building, and some the new?
I'm pretty sure Undergrads like in the new modern building - we got taken around Goldney on our day (we weren't sposed to, just the guy who was touring lived there and wanted to big it up)

Dunno about the old stuff though,
The old building is where the common rooms/bar is on the bottom floor and the warden lives on the top floor (so obviously no access for students). The flats where the students live is in the modern bit.
