Go to the dentists and ask for hydrocortisone.

Otherwise its either merc sol (or whatever the hell its called) or bonjella

Can't go to the dentist - I'm at uni and only registered at home :frown:

I have over 10 mouth ulcers  They're really painful and I suspect, freakishly rare in this quantity. Has anyone found something that helps get rid of them?

Mix warm water with salt and rinse 3 times a day

Also, apparently mouthwash is bad for it as it washes away the 'good' bacteria that heals them (limited science knowledge here!)

Reply 5

you can go to an emergency dentist there should be one somewhere in your area. NHS direct might be able to tell you where.

Reply 6

yeah my dad had corsodyl wash prescribed for a while and then hydrocortisone tablets.

Reply 7

Thanks guys - all v helpful. But they don't sell corsodyl in boots, so its going to be a pain to find!

BONJELA!

Reply 9

Mouth ulcers are the bain of my bloody life. I always use bonjela but i think its a tiny bit crap! Go see a doctor or dentist or something. You have rather a lot!! Poor you, you must be in so much pain :frown:

Bonjela is so delicious. But I sympathise, my wisdom teeth are growing in very wonkily, and I've had an ulcer right at the back of my mouth where it's rubbing for weeks now. I'm going to see the dentist in the next few weeks - I'm going to have to have my wisdom teeth taken out soon because they're so wonky. I'm not looking forward to it.

My advice is go to see your doctor or dentist, because there's surely something they can do to help. They must be so uncomfortable! I think I'm suffering when I've only got three, mostly because I can't have acidy fruits any more (they sting quite spectacularly).

yeah i head an ulcer or two last term, bonjela sorted it out. You've just got to stomach it, but the bonela helps. They'll back on their own accord. Make sure you brush your teeth well as well - ulcers are common in people with bad mouth hygeine

Reply 12

Oh, I have pretty good oral hygeine: I had quinsy during christmas, which has made me a little paranoid about it, so I brush regularly and use listerine (which I suspect is aggravating it).
I've been living off soup for the past few days

I'd try something like this . I've used it when i've got mouth ulcers. But to be honest if you've got that many its probably best to try and find a uni dental service to check it out.

I used to work in a pharmacy and thats what we would have recommended.

rub salt into the ulcer - although this really hurts, it kind of numbs it a bit
Otherwise get bonjela
Ive had a few ulcers recently - think its because of an usually screwed up sleeping hours - a sudden change. It took 4 days for the ulcer to clear - not a nice one.

TCP also works. tastes totally distgusting but just don't get it on your toungue. put some on a cotton bud and then onto the ulcers. it seemed to help relieve the pain for longer than bonjela did. I'd suggest bonjela if you're about to go out though because you do not want to be smelling of TCP.

Did you ask them? It's on the General Sales List so it's not like they can't sell it. Did you try any other pharmacies? Although to be honest, I think if you've got over 10 mouth ulcers and they're really painful then something you can buy might not be enough so you should go see a dentist or your GP.

sorry this is a bit offtopic but is it true that people who have herpes often have lots of mouth ulcers?

Reply 18

I have mouth ulcers sometimes. They sting like hell. Never drink orange juice with mouth ulcers. Ouch!
